This is our favorite restaurant in Carrollton. We go here almost once a week. They keep adding to their menu and updating the restaurant. The sushi is always great, but they also have other good stuff like ramen. They just introduced chicken wings that we tried last night. The spicy Korean flavor wasn't as spicy as we were expecting, but the wings were cooked well and the flavors were good. I think the best part of t... View all feedback.
What ViJay K doesn't like about Carrollton Sushi:
If you want cheap sushi, this is your place. If you want good sushi, then look elsewhere. I kinda cringe when my friends want to eat here because they obviously do not know what decent sushi (or even good sushi) is. Good sushi doesn't have to be pricey. You don't get that fresh taste here and the rolls don't even stay together, they just fall apart. You can take the family here and not break the bank. Personally I ra... View all feedback.
Chou Chou Sushi has changed owners and completely remodeled the restaurant with even a brand new menu. I wanted to give them 3 stars because it 's a new business even if they weren 't doing super, but something happened with our check that made me bring it down to 2 stars. The interior of the restaurant is similar, almost the same, but the tables have been rearranged and upon entering I was struck with a chemical smell. The server did tell me they just recently finished remodeling... so hopefully the smell goes away. Food: I used to come to Chou Chou because the sushi was cheap, you get easily get 2 nigiri for $2 and my favorite tiger roll which included eel and salmon for less than $8. The new menu is more expensive, no longer a cheap place to go, and the took out some of my favorites from the previous menu (no more tempura ice cream). I ordered the chirashi and a few rolls. Everything was alright, a typical sushi restaurant, not bad but no stand outs. Service: a bit awkward but she was nice. I had to flag down the server a few times, but overall an alright job. Why I gave them 2 stars instead of 3: so my friends and I ordered a salmon roll but what came out was the salmon avocado roll. Which has about a $1.50 price difference, we wanted the cheaper one which is why we ordered just the salmon roll. Instead of addressing this with us or telling us, they decided to just charge us for the salmon avocado roll but changed the name to salmon roll which we found out when we got our check. My friend who speaks Korean understood them when they were discussing this with away from us, which is why I noticed it. For a business starting out you 'd think they 'd just let us know and offer us the chance to get the cheaper roll when it was the server 's mistake (she admitted this when discussing it in Korean away from us). #shady Not sure if I 'll come again.
This small restaurant was a lot better than I thought it would be. I was expecting nothing but extremely Americanized sushi such as the very tasty Between Josey Lane and Keller Springs roll or maybe even the intriguing Right next to Albertsons roll all smothered with 1/2 pound of cream cheese with each bite, but I was pleasantly surprised. Walking in, I instantly hear the karaoke machine playing cheesy, but peaceful soundtracks from what seems like old Asian films. The sushi bar area was pretty small with maybe only 5 seats and one guy was already there with his ipad out so I chose to sit a few seats down. I always like to watch the chef make the different items. I ordered the chirashi ju, which came with a 12 slices of sashimi on top of some delicious rice and some salty fish eggs. I also ordered my favorite side, seaweed salad. The meal did come with a miso soup and some pickled cucumbers. Pros: The rice for my chirashi ju was really awesome. Warm, a little sticky with just a little bit of some kind of dried pork (maybe) for added saltiness and flavor. The flavor for the seaweed salad was on point and at a price for only 4 bucks, it was worth it. Cons: I know the miso and the pickled cucumbers are free but that doesn 't give anyone an excuse for it to be anything less than perfect. If you were serving dinner rolls at a steakhouse or chips and salsa at a Tex-Mex restaurant, you 're still going to give a shout out whether it was good or not. To me, the miso wasn 't very good. It just tasted like old miso that 's been sitting out for bit too long. Same with the cucumbers; it just wasn 't pickled enough and they came out almost grey. It wasn 't sour at all and tasted like soggy cucumber slices. The seaweed salad came out almost frozen. I know they usually keep the seaweed refrigerated, but it kind of tasted like it came right out of the freezer. The main sashimi part of my meal was good, but it wasn 't as memorable as the rice. Overall, I would come here again for the cheap beer and sake and maybe try it for lunch. Plus, the toilet is pretty cool.

Personally I rather buy the sushi from a Tom Thumb deli. The place is small and quaint. Service is mediocre. Likes: 2 for 1

The waitstaff is always very pleasant and accommodating and the sushi chefs are friendly and really appreciate your business. Here's a tip, if you're a regular they will make a point of showing their appreciation with little things like free appetizers on occasion. This is just a great place to frequent if you like sushi.
This was our first time trying Chou Cho after it changed owners. It is a massive improvement the food is extremely tasty and they had items that appealed to my picky eaters. We will definitely be back.
