Our host’s recommended chippy was closed, so a quick online search brought us to the Atlantic Way Diner, which stood out due to positive fish reviews. The two young men serving us were friendly and welcoming. We ordered haddock and chips twice, both times with curry sauce. The fish had a lovely, tasty batter. Being from a major fishing city in northern England, we’re quite particular about our fish, and this was just right—fresh, white, and flaky. The chips were excellent, contrary to another review saying they were hard. The curry sauce was a classic chip shop style and very good. The batter was light and crispy, never soggy—almost as good as our local chippy back home, which is a high benchmark. The price was very reasonable, about €13 each, similar to what we’d expect to pay in northeast England, and the portions were generous.

We had the fish and chips, which were cooked perfectly and tasted fantastic. The portions were generous, and the prices were very reasonable. We enjoyed the beautiful weather and sat outside. The staff were friendly and attentive. This was our first time here, but it certainly won’t be our last.

The generous portions left us fully satisfied and comfortably full for the rest of our trip. Overall, we had a very positive experience.

The soup and fish and chips we had were delicious and fulfilling. Inside, there's more seating than it initially appears, so don’t hesitate to look around. Make sure to take a short walk to the right to discover the charming waterfall and fairy village—it's definitely worth the visit. Just watch your children carefully near the viewing platform, as there is a small drop, which you'll notice when you get there.
