Strangely, this eaterie was only half full on a summer Saturday night! Particularly as the service is fast and efficient, and the curries are superb. Two of us dined and we agreed the hot curries were just that...HOT, unlike other Indian's which seem to be...afraid to offer you anything above mild. View all feedback.

I've been here a few times and decided to give it another go with an open mind. Wish I hadn't. For my Euro takeaway I would have gotten a steak elsewhere. I have visited this restaurant a few times and decided to try it again with an open mind. Unfortunately, I wish I hadn't. I could have gotten a better steak for 20 Euros elsewhere. From the phone call to place my order, where they seemed unfamiliar with their menu, it was a disaster. I ordered Thai food, but what I received can only be compared to rubbery roast chicken in gravy with a few green peppers. It tasted like it came from a can. I had ordered a stir fry with chicken, vegetables, and noodles. However, my noodles came separately, for which I paid extra. To my surprise, it was oily tagliatelle with carrot and scrambled egg mixed in. When I served it, there was a distinct smell of wet dog. It's a shame that the food quality is so poor because the staff are very polite and welcoming.
We had a wonderful tasty takeaway from the Shamrat. Served by a helpful friendly waiter and all three of us can heartily recommend the dishes we ordered. One shared starter, a spicy chicken jalfrezi, A lamb rogan josh and a special Shamrat curry, nicely cooked naan bread and a Bombay potato. Delicious.
We went in out of pure desperation as there was no where else open. It was awful. We ordered the pasanda and the tikka and it 's the same bagged chicken they use in the Chinese. ... how bad. I asked for one dish yo be returned to the kitchen and he left it at the end of the table. Go to the chipper instead....
The restaurant was not up to par. I ordered a shish kebab but was served tandoori lamb instead. When I inquired about it, I was told that they are essentially the same. The service was quite slow, there was no alcohol available (but you can bring your own), and the food was mediocre. It's okay if you're really hungry and craving Indian food.
It was odd that this restaurant was only half full on a summer Saturday night. The service was quick and efficient, and the curry dishes were excellent. My dining companion and I both found the spicy curries to be actually spicy, unlike other Indian restaurants that seem to only offer mild options.
