Was Anonym at Oakleaf a mag?
Oakleaf is a beautiful restaurant with a charming atmosphere. We were seated at a lovely window table decorated with fresh flowers. The service was acceptable; our server was somewhat slow with check-ins and forgot some items like flatware, but he was polite and friendly throughout. The food was tasty, especially the cookies, which were flaky, rich, and hearty. The other dishes were also good. The shrimp was perfectl... View all feedback.
What Anonym dislikes about Oakleaf:
Our waitress seemed quite irritated, which made our meal a bit uncomfortable. On the bright side, the server at the next table was lovely—friendly and informative while describing the menu. It's disappointing when poor service overshadows an otherwise pleasant dinner. Be sure to check prices before ordering; my date was caught off guard by a $27 charge for an Angels Envy Old Fashioned, especially since a bottle usual... View all feedback.
Incredible restaurant which has become one of my top choices for an upscale dinner. Highlights included the lil biscuits with truffle cheese and ham, tempura mushrooms, and zabaglione dessert. The menu changes frequently and is always fresh. The wine list is diverse and our server was fairly knowledgeable about pairings. The only thing I felt was missing were a few more old-world wines, particularly reds. The majority were from Napa Valley and, while they were clearly of high quality, the European selection was a bit sparse. However, this is only a personal preference :)Service was excellent--unobtrusive but attentive and always within eyesight. The place was very clean and the ambiance was wonderful. The chairs are super comfy and the entire place has a casual but upscale farm-to-table vibe very classy WITHOUT being stuffy in the slightest (as a bar manager myself, with all of my silly ~wine opinions~, I was probably the most pretentious person in there.. Oakleaf is the perfect choice for any special occasion, or if you're just in the mood for something a little more creative and fancy. It's clear that the entire staff takes pride in maintaining a beautiful restaurant. For two people with entrees, apps, and dessert, our bill was about $100 (not including the bottle of wine) which I consider a great deal for the quality of food and service!
My wife and I dined at Oakleaf on a Tuesday evening, and the restaurant (as well as Carrboro) were very busy. We were seated a couple minutes earlier than our reservation and the service was spot on. The presentation and quality of the food was excellent and we enjoyed every morsel. My wife ordered a Caesar salad and some scallops, while I ordered deviled eggs and a Halibut entree. The Halibut was unlike any preparation I have ever had before and it was fantastic. The Mud Candy or vegetable of the day was a combination of broccolini, bok choy, garlic and it was delicious! This was our first time at Oakleaf and we look forward to our next visit.
My wife and I have been going to Oakleaf for many years, since their Pittsboro days. It's absolutely our favorite restaurant. Everything is superb. They use fresh, local, seasonal ingredients and the menu is constantly evolving. The service is also excellent, as is the ambiance. I LOVE OAKLEAF.
Our waitress seemed really irritated we were there, which was so awkward when we heard the absolutely lovely server at the next table over explaining the menu and being generally jovial and kind. Going to a nice dinner is always soured by bad service. Also? ask for their liquor price before ordering?my date ordered an Angel?s Envy old fashioned and was charged $27! Comical since abottle of Angel?s is like $50. Overall was SO excited to try out this restaurant after going to UNC a few years ago. The pastaswere lovely (very small), but we won?t be returning for weirdly overpriced cocktails, small portions, and to have a grumpywaitress ruin a date with cold service.
Excellent dining experience! We sat on the back patio and enjoyed a variety of upscale dishes from the spontaneous menu. Each dish was a small sample, but enough to be filling and very delicious. I had foods I never would have ordered on my own, liketuna tartare, but I enjoyed everything. Servers were very attentive.
