**Restaurant Review: Hankki - A Mixed Bag of Korean Cuisine** Located conveniently near Carnegie Station, Hankki offers a vibrant atmosphere and tantalizing lunch specials. While many diners rave about the authentic flavors and quality dishes like ginseng chicken soup, spicy galbi jeongol, and exceptional Korean fried chicken, others have found their meals lacking in authenticity and seasoning. Complaints about oily bibimbap and slow service emerged alongside praises for the restaurant's inviting vibe and value offerings. Regulars appreciate the tender marinated beef and house-made sundae. Overall, Hankki holds promise but may leave some patrons craving a more genuine Korean dining experience.
Four of us spent around $100, but they still insisted on a surcharge for paying by card, even though the sign indicated a minimum charge of $25.
I ordered from the lunch menu and was pleasantly surprised by the generous portions and variety offered in the lunch set. I tried the beef bulgogi and chicken katsu sets, and both were quite filling and offered great value for the price. While I can’t claim that the food is of the highest quality, it’s reasonable to expect this given the affordable prices. I will definitely be back for lunch, and I might consider dinner in the future as well.
The army stew was loaded with a mix of ingredients, including luncheon meat, sausages, pasta, noodles, vegetables, and rice cakes. It was hearty and perfect for a chilly winter day. The fried chicken is among the best I've ever had—juicy and tender on the inside with a delightfully crunchy exterior. It's so addictive that I could easily devour a whole bucket while relaxing in front of the TV. As for the blood sausage, it might intimidate some, but it's made in-house and surprisingly doesn’t have a strong blood flavor. It's soft and includes glass noodles, making it quite tasty. Overall, it was a thoroughly satisfying meal. You know a restaurant is great when you're already planning your next visit while still eating!
The lunch specials are fantastic, and the dinner options are delicious. The service is extremely friendly, and the food is top-notch. Service: Dine-in Meal type: Dinner Price per person: A$1–20 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Recommended dish: Dolsot Bibimbap with Miso Soup.
