Olde Town Bakery - Carleton Place

Great sandwiches, but the rude woman making them is really not worth it. Manners go a long way when you are handing over your hard -earned money these days.

The bread is no doubt good. I grew up in this town and had enjoyed their sandwiches for years until recently. The old crones who run the place have always been the one thing holding this back from being a truly terrific dining experience. I put up with their nasty comments and rude behavior for years because the sandwiches were worth it. Until recently when I bit into a sandwich and found a fingernail that had been knocked off while cutting the sandwich. I was obviously disgusted but I recognized that mistakes happen and wasn't prepared to count them out on that alone. I approached the staff with my concern and the hag behind the counter got extremely defensive and asked me if I had proof for her. I didn't take a picture of the fingernail but I described it to her over the phone and it matched the color of her fingernails. They did end up begrudgingly giving me a refund when I explained that I was a loyal customer and had never had any issues before. But their negative attitude towards me when they should have been apologizing was the last straw. If there was a friendlier face behind the counter and a semblance of customer service I would consider returning. But as is I have no desire to be in the presence of such poisonous negativity and careless sanitary habits.

An authentic real bakery where everything is made fresh. My breakfast cinnamon roll was delicious. They also offer homemade sandwiches.

I went for my very first time last week, April 2022 and I have never met such amazing people who work there and come in. What I thought was just a bakery, I was very pleasantly suprised they have soup and sandwiches. I myself bought their AMAZING beef and barley soup (im sorry nana it was better than hers, just a bit) ? My Boyfriend bought a beautiful Fresh Veggie Wrap. Honestly I'm not a veggie person but hold the phone... THIS WAS AWSOME. I haven't turned completely but This is definitely a srart. ??????? I STRONGLY SUGGEST TO ANYONE coming into Carelton place...Stop by, will not disappoint.

We enjoyed everything we tried! The food was really delicious! The prices were excellent and the service was very efficient. I adore this type of traditional, no-frills bakery.
