Contribute FeedbackCafe Postinos is a mixed bag when it comes to reviews. Some diners rave about the exceptional food, atmosphere, and service, declaring it the best Italian cuisine in Ottawa. Others criticize the lackluster customer service, mediocre food quality, and overpriced dishes. However, there seems to be a consensus on the delicious gluten-free options available. The ambiance is commended, with beautiful settings and attentive waitstaff. Overall, the restaurant offers a decent dining experience, with highlights such as the garlic bread, calamari, and pasta dishes. It may be worth a try for those looking for a varied Italian menu in a charming location.
The menu was unclear, so I had to ask for clarification. Our server was not very helpful. When I inquired about making the calamari gluten-free, he bluntly stated it was not possible and offered no suggestions or apologies. As a dairy-free diner, my options were limited and I ultimately settled for the Italian sausage with polenta, which was overcooked and tough. The food was overpriced and mediocre at best, so I suggest avoiding this restaurant. Additionally, if the calamari could not be made gluten-free, it likely came pre-packaged, which is not worth the $18 price tag.
The staff at this restaurant were amazing and very knowledgeable. They did warn me that while they try their best with allergens, being an Italian restaurant means that there is flour everywhere. Normally, I wouldn't have taken the risk of eating here for that reason, but it was the only option in the area for a Mother's Day lunch with my mom that could potentially accommodate my dietary needs. The pizza dough tasted gluten-free, and the sauce was delicious. The Caesar salad without croutons was also excellent. Although the prices were somewhat high, the portions were generous and worth it. Unfortunately, I did have a mild reaction, so I won't be returning. However, I believe this restaurant is a great choice for those who have food intolerances or are not as sensitive to gluten as I am.
This restaurant serves delicious Italian cuisine. I have tried their pizza and pasta dishes, as well as their gluten-free ice cream and sorbet. They are attentive to preventing cross-contamination with gluten and other allergens, including seafood and fish, which I am allergic to. It is impressive to find such high-quality gluten-free options in a town like Almonte.
