What User doesn't like about Vespa Pizza:
Been here twice RIDICULOUS wait time...was told that our order was behind a party upstairs...lame excuse you should cater for a party separately to normal patrons...it doesn't take an hour and a half to cook a pizza...we gave this a second chance but won't be going back again...plenty of wood fire pizza restaurants with better service View all feedback.
First impression - interior: is okay but not that simple/antique/rustic Italian style. Just looks old and like it needs a repair. Wouldn't call it cosy. Very humid and warm inside, they might need to install an aircon. Service is quite laid back and relaxed which is usual in Australia. Now most important thing - FOOD. They advertise themselves as wood fire pizza makers, for me it was like a home-made pizza which people throw all ingredients they can find in their fridge. We had 2 different pizzas (based on the recommendation of a waitress) and none of them pleased our palate with anything unique or special. 3 little piggies supposed to include pepperoni which is usually spicy, this one wasn't. Sesame chicken didn't taste anything like sesame and chicken wasn't fresh. I guess they need to or match prices for the quality they offer or pick their ingredients carefully.
Anyone who frequents Ben & Jerry's Outdoor Cinemas each Summer has probably tried one of the pizzas from Vespa's menu but they are bigger, badder and awesomer when you eat in at the restaurant. The restaurant itself seems a bit dingy from the outside, but this is casual eating at its best and is just as good when dining with one person or many. And the pizzas. OMG the pizzas. You can choose from a large variety of fresh delights, but my favourites are the suppressed (sopressa, chilli, tomato and olive), 9mm (pepperoni & olive) and the streaky bacon. With redcurrant sauce. And Camembert. All gooey and perfect and sitting atop a crispy, chewy, Om nom base. Seriously, get down there now, because the streaky bacon demands it.
Delicious! Ah when I smell a fresh vespa wood fired pizza coming I am instantly hungry the only issue is there could be a little more choice on the menu. Otherwise they are our go to food quality fresh made pizza.
We live in Park building where Vespa has relocated and were looking forward to having good pizza so close. But the reality is the opposite. Toppings taste sweet and sugary as if they come from a supermarket jar, cheese is cooked hard, not runny and again tastes like the cheapest supermarket brand, base was tasteless - frozen, bought in? Tried the place twice and won't go back for such third rate offerings. There are much better authentic Italian pizzas at Arriva at New Farm or Beccafino. What a pity, we would have loved to call on this place when we have friends in too. Short changing their customers and it shows.get your act together Vespa or lose good customers.
Woodfired pizzas, with tasty base and tastier toppings. I used the online order and it was simple for the takeaway. Inside was appealing and will stop in for dinner soon. Went to the Stanley St store. Staff were friendly and helpful and wine selection seems interesting. Will use again.
