Dorothy's - Cardiff
Dorothy's
Description
Dorothy’s Chip Shop, an institution in Cardiff, elicits a wide array of opinions. Many patrons praise the friendly staff and affordable offerings, especially the chicken curry and chips, which some describe as excellent and plentiful. However, others lament a significant decline in quality over the years, citing unedible chips and unsatisfactory food experiences. While the eatery remains popular for its freshly cooked fish, which requires a brief wait, the stark contrast in customer experiences suggests that consistency might be an issue. Overall, Dorothy’s retains a loyal following, yet leaves some disappointed with recent visits.

Really nice fish and chips for £11.20. A good sized portion, would have easily fed two. Generous portion of chips....not particularly thick cut which leads to quite a few crispy bits but plenty of a sensible size. Fish was skinless and cooked to order so batter was nice and crispy. I took mine away but there's convenient seating if you want to eat inside. Server was very polite and helpful, I would definitely return. I have been coming to this restaurant since my Dad brought me here in the 1960s. I haven't visited in a while because the quality of the chips hasn't been good on my last few visits. However, I decided to give them another chance today. Unfortunately, the chips were absolutely terrible, the worst I have ever had and not even edible. They gave me a stomachache later. I wish I had been able to return them and ask if they would eat them. I will not be returning to this restaurant again.
