As soon as we arrived, the waiter made us feel unwelcome and then took 5-10 minutes to bring us the menus. He then informed us that the establishment is a bar and kitchen for patrons over 19, but is still family-friendly. I, being 18, was surprised and frustrated as I have never encountered such a policy in a pub before. There were no signs or clear indications of this rule.
The food is amazing! Only a single problem, plates were cold, so the food would have warmed longer if they had been heated. Maybe the cook could start improving the experience. ? Good varied menu.
Arrived late, did try and call to let them know but no answer. Was very quiet on arrival yet took some time to get noticed. Placed on a table with a broken chair so asked to be moved. Service was pretty slow, food was ok, but husbands burger had no onion rings as they ran out but guess they hoped he wouldn’t notice. When questioned an offer of more chips was offered but instead got given some awful pancakes and sauces. Great location to go on to arena but unlikely we would return.
Having looked at the extensive menus online, including a children’s menu, we arrived to be presented with limited menus (because there was an international on Wal v NZ) and they were looking to capitalise. The choices were very limited (no children’s options at all) and the prices were inflated by about 50% of the ones online. Despite most other restaurants being full, Blue Jay was very quiet and lacked any ambiance. We were led to a table behind a very large TV which was showing football matches with loud yet muffled commentary… decided to try our luck elsewhere and were accommodated by a very busy ‘Bill’s’ with swift service, a good atmosphere and un inflated prices.
The restaurant itself was quite quiet for a Saturday night, but we were there early (6ish) so maybe that's why? There is a lot of variety on the menu and everyone enjoyed what they had, what a table of 13 is quite impressive. The service was not very fast and we decided to go to the bar for drinks. The booking by the fork gives a 20% discount that they do not know, but cancel the bill, but it removes all the fixed prices that the tapas fall under so instead the tapas of the 20% that they charged full price that is quite much more expensive. The online menu also differs from the fees, so take different from the printed menu that has worked out what everyone owed a little more complicated. I sent a message about the bill the day after and although it was read, it was not answered to which a little disappointing customer service is wise.
