What User dislikes about Mera Onix:
Far worse than 4 stars, woke up at 06:30 to get a place at the pool, drank a spritz from morning until evening at the plastic but in the room they warned you to be friendly to the environment, opposite the towels, if you want and you can wipe four days with a single towel would be OK for the environment but my wife and I threw away 100 plastic cups View all feedback.
A lot of food with no taste. Small pool with chaos and unprepared staff. Rude lifeguard at the water slide. They booked us in a room with one bed, even thou we are a family of three that barely had space in one bed. My first and last visit here!! Its not worth the money and your time!! Service: 3
We had a family vacation at the beginning of August (4 rooms, 2 for 7 nights and 2 for 10) and we paid about 10.000 € in total, with all inclusive. The rooms were nice, although besides the bed there is not much space. Everything was very clean and the service ladies were nice and helpful. All other spaces like the terrace, restaurant and pool were also clean. I am personally not a fan of all inclusive, as it is pretty wasteful, but I must say they really made efforts to offer variation in the menu and also new courses everyday. The personnel provided refills on all food as soon as they were empty. Great coffee and plenty of drinks. The daily concerts were extremely loud; I guess the sound engineers didn’t take into account how close to the stage people are sitting. They have a private beach and a beach bar, but there were in the midst of a huge construction project so no sand, stones on the beach and in the water and very dangerous not marked holes in the water in one of which my father hurt his leg. Because of the beach situation, the pool was extremely crowded. The surroundings of the hotel consist of construction sites and the Cap Aurora holiday village is desolating. We went to Vama Veche for several days just to enjoy a normal beach and be able to swim in the sea. I wish the hotel had warned us beforehand of the beach situation, but all in all, it was manageable. Still, I think that we would have gotten better overall conditions for the paid money in other countries.
Ac in the room did not work. It made sound, pushed air, though air was not cooled. Hotel website mentiones a quiet location, though they have a stage where they blast music until 22:30 at night. Definitely not a quiet hotel. Food is a self-serve kind of thing, though food was usually cold, overcooked and dry. I did not enjoy any of the 3 meals they provided, though when snacks were available (twice per day), i was able to find something to eat. Bathroom shower was not the cleanest (some mold on the tiling grout), but i used slippers when taking a shower. The beach was terrible (though this is not the fault of the hotel. Romanian government decided to expand the beaches and there were a lot or excavators/buldozers working through the night, making quite some noise. That, coupled with a broken AC, made the room experience quite bad) so we couldn't really enjoy the waterfront much. Overall, this is not a 4 star hotel and it was not worth the money.
The Mera Onix hotel experience, in a nutshell A hotel for families with kids, who likes loud and crowded vacations. The hotel has dedicated parking included, no issues there. The rooms are fresh, clean and has small but decent balconies. The bathrooms are nice and the water pressure in the showers is excellent. The water temperature for showers is responsive. The AC works well. No strange smells. Good cleaning service and good room wifi. In the all inclusive package there're three main meals and two in between snacks. You can definitely stay very full all day if you wish to. The food is distributed in a cantina that is swarmed by the guests when the cantina doors are opened. You can choose between a few options and there's always salads and pasta available. I can't say the food is of any significance, which is a shame. If this cantina existed in my home city, I would never go there to eat. I haven't gotten sick from the food during my five days here, so I don't doubt that the food is of fair quality, but if you're looking forward to eat well during your vacation this is not the place for you. The beach is a decent private beach. You need to wade about 50 meters out into the sea to reach deeper water than to your waist. You will need water shoes because the bottom is full of large rocks. Sun beds and parasols are included, it was not hard to find a spot on the beach every day. The sea was mostly full of kids unless you go out a bit further. Near the cantina is the hotel pool. It looks nice in pictures. Honestly I did not even try to get into the pool because it was completely full of children from 7 in the morning till closing time. I was too concerned with the sanitary conditions of the pool to give it a go. Next to the eating area is a scene where, every evening, there's some kind of performance and event. What this means is that during dinner and late into the evening, the volume is very loud. You will not be able to eat dinner while having a conversation. Imagine you're eating in a night club, but for children. You can avoid this by eating fast and then escaping around the corner to have an ice cream in the area by the pool. The ice creams are a very nice touch (also included). I did not open my wallet once during my stay all is included. This is a great plus. If the music during the evening was lower or optional somehow, I would have given this a 4 star, even if it's not my style of vacation, but people who don't mind a crowd and have kids they might enjoy this hotel.
