It was highly recommended on Trip Advisor so, as we arr... read more We went to the Ristorante Duna Rossa in the evening of 23 August 2023, on our first night in Duna Verde. It was highly recommended on Trip Advisor so, as we arrived at our rented house early evening and did not have much time to look around, it seemed a safe choice. The restaurant looks nice: mostly outdoor with lots of lights and big coloured inflatable balls in the swimming pool just metres away. We were greeted well but, even though the place was not particularly busy, then had to wait almost 20 minutes to be served. The food was OK – a bit more expensive than it should have been for what it was, I feel – but passable enough. The lack of interest from the serving staff though was an issue, which meant that at the end of the meal, when we were waiting to pay, we had to again wait approximately 15 – 20 minutes… In the end, we had to get up and walk towards the door in order to spur them into action. Wouldn’t go there again.

The manager, Marzia Mazzon, is a great host and will seat you at the best available table. Choice of food ranges from local fish cuisine the nearby Caorle fishermen provide the best catch of the Adriatic sea every day, and Marzia knows the best providers for sure to great pizzas prepared by chef Drago, or international plates to your choice. Kid’s menu is available too. Waiters are very kind with anyone and the whole structure is absolutely conforming to anti Covid regulations. During our dinner experience, my wife and I tasted succulent “tagliolini with calamaretti” (thin angel hair egg pasta with baby calamari sauce) , a great pizza Drago’s style with anchovies and capers, and fish souvlakis with giant shrimps, calamaris, tomatoes and peppers, truly enjoyable. We had freshly baked focaccia bread to accompany our meal, complimentary. To finish, pistacho ice cream with granella and coffee cream on top, absolutely delicious. We paid less than 60 Euros including wine, bottle of water, coffee and a digestive grappa. The setting is perfect either for a family dinner or s romantic dating by the pool...what can you expect more ??
