We came here after we were unwelcomed at The Trough, it's summer we had no reservations the place was 90% empty but she turned us away.  Lucky for us we came he... read more We came here after we were unwelcomed at The Trough, it's summer we had no reservations the place was 90% empty but she turned us away.  Lucky for us we came here on a whim with no expectations.  I had had the Halibut was fabulous and just try to find good fish and chips in Canada..lol  ya they all suck.  Ding ding ding !!  winner winner halibut dinner... we both had halibut and fries they were amazing not greasy home cut fries.  It was busy, the service was slow but what did I care, I wasn't in a rush, it was laid back, we drank our guinness and had ordered the half side of nachos which were enormous.  We paid extra for the gauc on the side and who knew the salsa, sour cream were huge portions.  Like where do you get so much on the side.. ya home..that is where and the Georgetown pub/Miners Lamp pub.  The fish and chips came out shortly after and I was stunned and amazed how wonderful they were.  I searched all of Calgary for good fish and chips, 20 years worth of crap fish and chips I purposely didn't finish my dinner so I could bring them home and enjoy them again for lunch. I have found my place.. It's old school pub, you want fast fish and chips go to Joey's and choke those down...I can hardly wait to go back.

My husband said his fish was the same as others. Fries nothing special. Not sure if it was real tarter sauce. My Yorkshire meal was a disappointment. The gravy was definitely fake, I was told real. The beef tasted like deli meat. The Yorkie no taste. Potatoes ok. I cook good food and picky. Wood chairs. Was going to try the breakfast here, but got turned off and walked to the Grand. Our Party of three waited over an hiur for our 3 orders of fish and chips. When it arrived the portion of fish was tiny, the coleslaw was oily and tasteless. The fries were overcooked. One portion was ordered with mashed potatoes. When it came it was cold and unapertizing. In addition to the terrible food the floor was filthy, there was dust on every surface. The Health Department should be notified and the chef fired. In the past we have had good food and no complaints so we were very disappointed. We will not be going back.
