Feedback
Rubicon Restaurant offers a charming ambience and excellent service, making it an ideal choice for a fine dining experience in Canberra. While some dishes such as oysters and sashimi were fresh and delicious, others like octopus and duck breast fell short. The restaurant's wine list is impressive, with a vast selection to choose from. Despite some underwhelming food experiences, Rubicon excels in accommodating dietary needs and providing a comfortable dining environment. Customers appreciate the attentive service and spacious layout, allowing for an enjoyable meal without feeling rushed or overcrowded. Overall, Rubicon is a top choice for special occasions or those looking for a high-end dining experience in the city.
We found the food, wine selection and service to be excellent. Costs commensurate with the quality of all three. Not a large menu but one that would provide something for most tastes. Smaller selection usually means better preparation and flavours. At the completion of our...meal, we considered the Duck may have been slightly over salted, (Capers? but there were none of the usual effects of an over salted meal, ie thirst. The vegetable accompaniments really enhanced the taste of the meat. The zucchini flowers (entrees were exceptional. The most noticeable consideration were the background sounds or lack of them. The acoustics were amazing. A table conversation could be conducted at normal volumes and everybody hearing. No loud conversations from other tables were discernible. The sound deadening fit out exceptional. All in all a very pleasant evening.
A somewhat hidden approach opens a series of rooms with a somewhat close east feeling, but in the did a beautiful modern Australian menu, and a very extensive wein list. the long track was excellent. very good food, as above with the best that could be found in the inner of sydney. an amazing sound, and already recommended to travel friends on this way.
Visiting friends in Canberra on a Monday night in the middle of winter I wanted to treat them for being great hosts and they chose this restaurant. It is a local favourite with some loyal clients. Food is excellent and wine list is extensive but staff will advise. A minimal menu is usually a sign of good fresh produce and this doesn't disappoint. My only dilemma was pudding/dessert and I just couldn't decide on which home made ice cream to sample so they allowed me a tasting plate with fig and ginger, fennel, walnut & nutmeg, chocolate & caramel, sour cherries & armagnac, pistachio and last but not least, Earl Grey nom nom nom ... I have a pic but I appear to be in the wrong section of TripAdvisor to submit it.
Went to Rubicon for Valentines dinner and had a wonderful time! great food nice atmosphere!
It's a culinary experience. Every dish is carefully crafted with utmost attention to detail. I don't think I have ever had food this good before. It's a five star dining experience and great service by our waiter, Fred. The Japanese oysters are to die for and the duck rillette was absolutely amazing. This is a must visit place for a great dinner in Canberra.
