Locale Pizzeria - Canberra

Restaurant has gone downhill. Limited menu with no mains and only gnocchi as the past choice (and lasagna). Gnocchi was over flavoured and stodgy. Pizza soggy and undercooked with odd flavours. Place was packing up at 8:00 on a Friday high. What a disappointment. Feeling a bit ill actually.

Never disappointed. The food was great as always. I usually get the Diavolo Rosso fire cooked pizza but went for the Prawn Linguini and my friend had the pan fried gnocchi special. My only criticism is $10 for one scoop of lemon gelato is a big steep.

A family favourite, we always come to Locale when visiting Canberra. The pizzas are excellent, good authentic dough and tasty toppings. Enjoyed the Calabrese, with salami, red onions, gorgonzola and chilli oil. Superb calamari to start- possibly the best I've ever had....crisp, tender, not oily, with crisp basil leaves and tiny cubes of potato.

Poor service despite having a reservation that after 1/2 hr table was still not ready we left and went elsewhere. Manager didn’t seem to care. The meal we had at Beluccis in Manuka instead was amazing!!!

The pizza and food here is pretty amazing so that’s why we keep coming back. The service has always been ordinary, but tonight’s service was the straw that broke the camel’s back. I think it might be one of the owners that makes the drinks? Anyway it’s always the same guy that is so incredibly rude and unhelpful no matter how charming and positive I try to be with him every time. Tonight he was on fire! They don’t take cash, which is a big NO from me, but he angrily took my cash because I had no other way of paying. There are so many other amazing pizza places in Canberra, I would give this one a miss if you are after a pleasant evening.
