As a Chinese gourmet, by DNA and by practice, I vouch that the food here is as good as you get in a dessèchent restaurant in northern China. I went five times in three weeks when I visited Canberra last month. Their chilli and sour soup is the best I have had since last trio to Beijing. What User doesn't like about CBD Dumpling House:
I walked in the restaurant today and tried to get and table . It is very busy and full house . Try to ask the staff for how and where to queue up .... But the staff keep on ask you to wait outside with an impatient attitude. There are over 15 people standing at the entrance and you do not know where to queue and who is the first one ! While visiting in Canberra..... we lined up to check out this bustling restaurant. Nice layout and prompt servicing. The dumplings were good, although slightly bland and ordinary. Prices vs portion was fair. I’m guessing it’s one of the local favourites.
Bustly and full of fun, just as a dumpling house should be! Enjoyed the vegetarian buns, the prawn and pumpkin dumplings, spring rolls and vege noodles. Everything was piping hot, bang on point flavour wise and efficiently served. The wait staff did their best to get us a table as quickly as possible, but looked completely run off their feet to be honest!
This place!!! We'd just come from a facility event, it was quite late on a Sunday late. Not only did they still let us do a last minute order while they were closing up shop, the food was fantastic!!
My friend and i saw a lot of people cueing up to this place and so we thought this must be good. The place was big and the wait wasnt that long. When we finally had the chance to eat, I liked that the food serving was really big and they tasted good too. It looks like a good place to have lunch and dinner with family or a group of friends.
Quick service, good pricing. Although I don’t like to drift from my usual order. Lemon chicken was not my usual- batter fried chicken(quite chewy) drizzled with a lemon sauce(sweet) Wouldn’t recommend. The special fried rice, dumplings, soft shell crab and their homemade ice tea are a must try.
