My go to for comfort food .... never disappoints. Had pork stew (tau u bak with mum chai), stuffed tofu with seafood, water spinach in garlic and chillies. We were very satisfied dinner on a Sunday night. Previous week we had requested for beef in black near sauce (requested adding chilli in the sauce) on rice bean thread instead, cooked slightly crispy....and we left our lunch meal salivating still. What Lan doesn't like about Happy's Chinese:
Rude staff, we felt we were being rushed. The place is conveniently located at Garema Place, however the staff doesn’t seem to care about their customers. No complaints about the food, the service was not up to the standards. Service: Dine in Meal type: Dinner Price per person: A$20–40 Food: 3 Service: 2 Atmosphere: 3 View all feedback.
Friendly service, great meals and meals were delivered to the table within 10 minutes after ordering.
Great tasting cantonese style Chinese meals. children wanted really sweet sour pork to dinner, to be out of town, was a little concerned to enter a restaraunt that was literally behind a few doors down to the bottom. but the personal was. welcome, inviting the atmosphere, the steady sorrow of a high quality Chinese esserei. the spring rolls were handmade, crisp, fresh, with the spicy XO sauce exactly right. the price reflects the quality - would highly recommend.
The 7 of us came with great expectations as the previous visits were pretty good. as Saturday night it was busy. we had booked in advance so that our table was ready. we had just sat down and hadn't even reached the menus when a waitress appears to ask if we were ready to order. we said we had just arrived and could give us some time. she came back within 20 seconds. we had not seen a menu yet. a few minutes later we have abandoned our order. within seconds the escaped arrived. not earlier they were put down, the main courses were received. eating was okay, but not great. some of the dishes were obviously prepared and were not hot. the lower line seemed to be how fast they could get us out and get another table in.
Had dinner here because other options were fully booked but ended up having a very nice meal. Roast chicken with red bean was different but delicious/ it’s nice to see different dishes on the menu of Chinese restaurants- also the special fried rice was very...good
Hard to describe it as anything other than pretty good suburban Chinese. We were unsure, and Ms Enmore Cat was given the option of using a ten second turnaround and back up the stairs if it didn't appeal. We got down there on Thursday night...to find it was busy and more importantly, with a chocker block menu of favourites. I am partial to prawn toast and for those who share a love for this delicacy, I can report that it was pretty good. We also had Mongolian Lamb, Sweet Sour Pork and also the Eggplant and probably over-ordered, but didn't leave much either. I would probably say one main per person is about right. Service was good and really, I would be happy to go there again.
