I ordered a Mediterranean lamb salad that was flooded with oil and a terrible tasteslope. lamm was too chewing to eat. the workers were busy talking. toilets were dirty. never back.
We have made a birthday party at eq caffe and it was the biggest mistake we made. the owner was actuative and flexible, but the dinge changed what we confirmed and paid the deposit. we confirmed everything in writing with her 2 months before the party and only. 2 weeks before the party they changed the menu. initially she agreed for byo and said that we calculate cork for the bottle we agreed to, but then a few days before the party that she said we can only bring 1 bottle, although we were happy to pay for cork. they even increased the cork price in the last minute after they had agreed at another price at the time of booking. the day of the party were all tablecloths tied and creepy. she had no courtesy to iron her. after the party when I went to pay the bill, she said I need to charge a bit extra because we didn't buy a wine bottle from us, although we all other alcohol from her totalling to more than $800. for this we used only 1.5 bottles of our own and paid corks. despite paying $800 for alcohol we bought from her, she had a nerve to ask us for more money. I totally understand that in covid hospitable has suffered a lot, but it is disappointment to see that they cheat on the customers by saying that we have to pay for something we did not buy. we wanted to support a small local Canberra business, but were left with a bad taste. it was really a stressful circumvent with the owner. the food served was hit and measured. some dinge were good, and some were disappointing. few guests asked for cocktail and to our surprise they said that they did not have all the items to make cocktail. we had to ask them again and again to bring food. there was too much time between eating. another surprise came to us in the evening when many guests ask for coffee and she said barista went to home. to save money, she did not keep any employees to accompany the party. I've never seen such a pathetic service from a restaurant. it will be very good until the time that it does not pay. once they pay the payment a lot of luck when they receive an email or a call or sms to check something. we even went to the restaurant to talk to her and sat for 2 hours and she didn't even have the time to talk to us because she had sent the staff to the house to save money and said she was busy. we will never return to this restaurant again. there was no care factor for the customer. also the owner must know how to operate business and basic customer service skills.
Very quiet day in this caffe I can see why. the quality of food was very poor service was best limited. I ordered a Vietnamese bark salad. mainly cauliflower, very minimal dressing and about 6 very small strips of bark meat. no taste....Food water was brought to the table, but when we finally got the attention to order another drink, we were told that she was not available early.
We've hosted four events at EQ, and we've always been impressed. The café is beautiful, the food is fantastic, and Wally and his staff consistently go above and beyond to ensure all our guests are well taken care of. I highly recommend EQ for any event, or even just for breakfast or lunch. They also serve the best coffee in Canberra!
