What Betsi v doesn't like about Mexicola Locale:
This was only an okay experience. Nothing blew us away, unfortunately. At the same time, none of the inconveniences were major downsides either. We visited during winter and there was very little ambience or cozy atmosphere. Ordered a few plates to share. The tuna ceviche stood out as it had a particularly flavourful sauce. This is Mexican. HAAAAAARRRIIIBBBBAAA. Such a gem of a place in Hout Bay. Staff are amazing. Food is Exquisite. Atmosphere is spot on. Will always be back
Mexicola Locale is tucked away down a side street in Hout Bay, so you’re unlikely to just stumble upon it. But those who seek it out are rewarded with a memorable and fairly unusual (for Cape Town) experience. Forget about that tired stereotype of Mexican restaurants that serve ‘Tex Mex’ style dishes like fajitas, enchiladas and burritos. Very tasty food, great wine selection. Friendly and efficient service. Definitely a place to go back to!
