Excellent dinner, great service. The garlic shrimp ravioli was a big hit. As were the desserts. I would definitely recommend this restaurant. Not super-fancy, but certainly a step above the usual family-friendly places. View all feedback.
What ReviewerName doesn't like about Cafe Artemis Campbell, Ca:
Server was friendly and trying hard, but was having some problems, seemed to be new as a server. One of our entrees (party of 4) was not submitted to the kitchen with the other three, so there was a longer wait for the 4th entree. View all feedback.
It was a Saturday night so we expected it would be a long wait for service and food but it we were exceptionally surprised at the attentivness of the wait staff and how fast the food came which was cooked very well. My husband's rib-eye was done to his preference, my trout was pan fried and just a tad dry but seasoned well and my son enjoyed the kabobs . We also had lahmacun, calamari and saganaki opa (flaming asiagio cheese) and we enjoyed the lightness of the lahmacun (pizza style flat bread with ground beef) and the calamari -excellent. the saganaki had a bit of the taste of the liquor so would probably not order that again. We enjoyed the evening (to celebrate my birthday).
Located in the Pruneyard meant getting there early to find a decent parking spot. Upon entering, I found the temperature in the restaurant to be quite warm. The waiter was awesome and the food was ok. I really enjoyed the Peach/Lemonade.
We've been here before and had a great experience, good food and service. This time, the restaurant seemed overcrowded and not equipped to handle so many people at the same time. Our drinks were late, we had to ask for them, the server forgot. Then the meal was mediocre, and took at least 45+ minutes to arrive. It even took 10 minutes or so for the server to even acknowledge us at the table and bring water. One of our appetizers was saganaki, the Greek cheese grilled, then set on fire and such. The first batch turned out like a big gooey mess of melted cheese. The slice wasn't big enough and was overcooked and runny. Then the server put way too much alcohol on it and couldn't put out the fire. Opa! So she used way too much lemon to put it out and it became even more running, with the cheese swimming in the lemon juice. We sent it back and they brought us a new one, this time thicker. A bit undercooked (should be a bit more brown on the outside). Again, too much alcohol, too much lemon. Same issue. It's difficult to expect servers to know how to cook food properly. Maybe they need a bit more training. The actual flame is just for show and is entirely unnecessary. Just grill it properly and serve it and let the customer put lemon juice on it if they want. It was way too noisy and busy. We literally had to shout to hear each other. The staff seemed overwhelmed and the cook clearly didn't have the resources to serve all these people in a timely manner. I doubt we'll come back.
The food we ordered was delicious as usual. in particular the starter sample plate. it is not in the menu, but they can ask for it.
