What User doesn't like about Ravi Shankar:
After I went to ravi shanker, since it opened 49 years ago, I was amazed that I had enjoyed the warmth of the service, acceptable food and reasonable prices, at my last visit in the rudeness of the waiter. I don't know what has changed, but if this keeps the call of the restaurant suffering. View all feedback.
This restaurant came highly recommended by my brother who has been eating here since he moved to London 30+ years ago and it didn’t disappoint. Friendly staff serving lovely vegetarian curries in a no fuss style restaurant ticked all our boxes. Would recommend and will definitely come again.
Looks good from the outside, old fashioned and charming on the inside. But all goes downhill as soon as you set foot inside. The only words uttered to me by a non-smiling waiter were “Two?”, followed by a pointed finger and “Window”. So, we sat in the window. The next waiter took the order without writing it down and assured us he would remember it correctly. He didn’t. He forgot the rice and ordered a garlic naan (not requested). The starters were OK to excellent (for the onion bhajee) but the mains were bland. At best, the meal was only OK. After so many reviews on here complaining about the impersonal service, why are they not making more of an effort? They charge 10% service charge, but don’t deserve it. This place needs an overhaul, front of house and in the kitchen.
My long awaited visit to Ravishankar restaurant on Drummond Street in London with my family turned out to be disappointing. The restaurant was empty on a Monday afternoon, and the sole waiter 's rudeness and lack of hospitality ruined our dining experience. To my dismay, I later found similar negative reviews online, indicating recurring service issues at the restaurant. I had been eagerly planning a visit to Ravishankar restaurant on Drummond Street in London since morning, as I wanted to make my parents feel at home during their visit to London. Being an Indian, I was hopeful that we could enjoy some delicious Indian cuisine together and create wonderful memories. However, our experience at the restaurant turned out to be quite disappointing. Despite our excitement, the restaurant was totally empty on a Monday afternoon, and there was only one waiter present. He greeted us in a disheartening manner by carelessly throwing the napkins on the table instead of placing them nicely. When I politely addressed the issue, he responded with rudeness, refusing to serve us and raising his voice. What puzzled us the most was the waiter 's inexplicable comment, This is not India, I will not serve you. It was a completely inappropriate response that left us questioning what point he was trying to make. Regardless of cultural differences or location, a restaurant should always strive to provide excellent service and treat all customers with respect and hospitality. To my dismay, upon returning home, I decided to check online reviews and discovered that multiple people had experienced similar service issues at Ravishankar restaurant. One person shared a similar rude encounter during the evening hours, which indicates a recurring problem with the restaurant 's service. It is disheartening to witness that such negative experiences are not isolated incidents but rather a pattern. As someone who was looking forward to having a pleasant dining experience with family, it 's deeply concerning to see that other patrons have also faced the same treatment. I hope this review serves as an alert to the owner/management about the ongoing service problems at Ravishankar restaurant. Every customer deserves to be treated with respect and hospitality, regardless of the time of day or the number of diners present. Improving the quality of service should be a top priority to ensure a positive dining experience for all guests and to restore the restaurant 's reputation for authentic Indian cuisine and warm hospitality.
We have been to other Bhel Poori resturants in this area but the first time here. The place is a bit grubby the table was sticky. We opted for the buffet which was well below average. The curry s were watery with no real taste and the selection poor.
Used to visit this restaurant regularly but moved out the area and on returning today and recommending it to a friend who also visited for the first time was shocked at the poor and negative service by floor staff one of who gave my friend evil looks making him uncomfortable and unable to eat his meal. Won’t be going back under this management.
