We had a good meal at this restaurant but the service was poor. There seemed to be numerous waiters/waitresses who were milling around but not making contact eye contact with customers. They gave the appearance of being inexperienced with some poor understanding of English. Had to go up to the till to get the bill as could not get anyone's attention. The service at Kings Cross Kimchee restaurant is much better! We would not recommend this particular branch of Kimchee to a friend.
Second time we went here. Food was good and ambience nice enough, but both times the servcie was terrible so clearly not a one off. We arrived and waited at the 'wait here to be seated ' sign. No one saw us for a good while so I had to wave my hands in the air to the two staff chatting away at the othe end of the restaurant. Sat down but no one paid us any attention for a long time. Finally got the attention of our waiter and ordered some food. He seemed rather confused about what we were ordering. Went off and food took a while. Also got some of the order wrong. Two friends joined us 10 mins after we arrived and almost impossible to get attention of waiting staff to get them drinks. I genuinely don 't think anyone checked on us once no staff were looking around to see how tables were doing as far as I could see. And the staff didnt ' really pick up that this was annoying for customers and didn 't offer any apologies. Probably a lack of training and proper rectruiment of quality staff. A fairly annoying experience both times so won 't be going back.
This was our first visit to Kimchee and our first taste of Korean food. It was interesting- we 'll go again. The only real drawback was that the dishes seemed to arrive randomly so we had finished most of our food by the time the second ' starter ' arrived. Other diners near us had similar experiences.
