He said he was reall... read more Small restaurant fabulous chef. Have been here a few times, food has always been outstanding. Took a friend here from Ottawa in March 2017. He said he was really impressed with the meal and "totally didn't expect it". A very nice compliment to the chef/restaurant! Thank you!I had the lamb in an exquisite gravy/sauce. Amazing.

Dinner on this occasion was... read more We stopped at the Elixir on our way between Stratford Festival and Hamilton. We had eaten there in the past and had a great dinner. Dinner on this occasion was okay, but not great. No soup or duck available, but that didn't cause any issues as there was lots to choose from on the menu. My husband ordered the monkfish and I ordered the salmon. Neither of us ordered appetizers. Our wine was delivered promptly. We did not order appetizers. Our entrees came about an hour after we ordered - fish shouldn't take that long to cook, there were only 2 other tables of 2 waiting for food. The waitress was very good - kept reassuring us that our meals would be out soon. The salmon was served with a vegetable slaw dressed in a vinaigrette and on the same plate as the salmon, so the vinegar taste permeated that side of the salmon. The salmon was slightly overcooked. The crispy skin was the tastiest part of the meal. My husband enjoyed his monkfish, but found it overcooked. I'm sure it was an off night and will give the place another chance based on our first experience.
