The Haymakers pub in Cambridge is a charming establishment that combines a cozy atmosphere with a fantastic selection of local ales and famous pizzas. While many patrons appreciate the dog-friendly environment and quick service, there are occasional concerns regarding staff demeanor and rising beer prices. The pub, recently recognized as CAMRA's pub of the year, boasts a welcoming vibe with regular board games and live music. Despite some complaints about cleanliness in outdoor seating, the overall experience remains positive. Many guests find it a true local gem, making it a recommended stop for anyone visiting the area.

Our group had two beers each, but the third beer was off. After a staff member tested it and determined it was chalky, they turned off the tap. The manager then turned it back on and advised us to try the beer before ordering next time. Despite there still being plenty of beer left in the barrel, we felt like we were being scolded and treated like children. We finished our drinks and left as we were not given an apology for the accusations made. It was our first time at the pub and we were disappointed by the treatment we received. We decided to go elsewhere for drinks, despite the rain. The experience left us feeling like we might as well have stayed at work.

A charming neighborhood pub with a spacious outdoor garden. They offer a selection of tasty local beers and dishes. Although they struggle with birds leaving droppings on the outdoor tables, it would be appreciated if they could clean it off.

The restaurant is great, but I was disappointed by the rude and unhelpful waitress behind the bar who lacked customer service skills. It's a shame because overall the restaurant had a fantastic atmosphere.

My favourite pub in Cambridge against some tough competition. Still feels like a proper local, love the wood panelling and booths inside, and a decent garden out the back. Don't really understand a few of the negative reviews here. Guessing people went expecting a polished, posh gastropub or something. Had countless pizzas here and they've all been great, beer selection is excellent and local, supplemented by a few choice Belgian and German bottles. I think they have good options for gluten free and its a very LGBTQ+ friendly pub. Haymakers has a friendly atmosphere and a lovely alternative vibe. Staff have always been kind, charming, funny, suspect a few of the reviewers can't read sarcasm. I love the vibe here and I've never not enjoyed a visit.

I am not a Cambridge resident so this is not a local pub for me but I do visit at least 4 or 5 times a year when I am in town. I thoroughly enjoy the ales and the pizzas are very good. The staff are friendly and knowledgable and being a dog owner the pub is dog friendly which is a bonus. Sadly though I have noticed over the last couple of years the price of the beer has gone through the roof. It seems like everytime I visit the beer has gone up about 50p a pint from my previous visit to the point where most of their beers are close to £5 a pint. It is also very noticeable that the pub is not as busy as it was. I was there on a recent sunny Sunday afternoon and there were only 4 other customers.
