My English friends claim this is far from the best pub in Cambridge. I'll admit I've only been to a few, but I can state without reservation that the cold beer, delicious Bangers Mash, and large outdoor seating area appealed to me. Over and over again. Been here regularly with my son. Extremely busy, no doubt Christmas celebrations, but we were told food orders were taking 45 minutes. After an hour and 10 minutes were told somebody would chase it up. Sometime later we ask again. Food appeared within 10 minutes and to put it nicely was awful. The staff was very friendly (seems to be a 50/50 amongst pubs as to whether they are warm to outsiders). Some of the other dishes were, to be honest, less than stellar (chewy meat, overcooked veg) but if you are looking for beer, sausage, and occasional entertainment, this place will do the job.
