Hidden Gem in Cambria. Sea Chest closed so went here for anniversary. Charming old historical house. Service and food excellent under these difficult conditions. Had rib eye and scallops. Will be going back View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about Black Cat Bistro:
Chose this restaurant because their menu seemed better than the other two restaurants (Robin’s and The Sow’s Ear) we looked at. Our waiter was pleasant. Food is mediocre. Based on the taste of the food, we will not be returning or recommending this restaurant when in Cambria. We ordered the Caesar (the lettuce wasn’t washed thoroughly and still had soil in it; the duck was overcooked; and the short ribs I can probabl... View all feedback.
Really cozy dining, food was phenomenal, service was the best. My new favorite restaurant on the central coast. Meal type: Dinner Price per person: $30–50 Food: 5
We’ve come to Black Cat every year and have enjoyed it. This year unfortunately was very different. My husband ordered a bowl of chowder and it was served lukewarm. We didn’t send it back because we had dinner guests with us. I had the Brussels Sprouts and a cup of mushroom soup and it was watery and tasteless. The fried olives are always good, as are the Brussels Sprouts. The Mahi Mahi special was another disappointment. Our guests had the same thing and were equally unimpressed. This will be our last time at Black Cat.
Great food, love the ambience of the quaint house Service: Dine in Meal type: Dinner Price per person: $100+ Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Recommended dishes: Crab Cakes, Berry Tart with Vanilla Ice Cream
First visit to this restaurant and it was a terrible disappointment. Very poor service and even worse food. Crabcakes were bread only, with unseen crab if there was any, the $13 cup clam chowder had no clams and the overwhelming flavor of only pancetta. The duck had no taste and was floating in a vinegar liquid, the 8 Oz ribeye was prepared perfectly. The salmon was clearly previously frozen and overcooked, sad considering the location to excellent fresh salmon. First choice bottle of wine was not available, “it was sold earlier in the week, really?” Same situation for the bottle of beer choice “not avb out of stock.” For a $725 dinner for ten people at 5:30 pm on a Thursday, with only two beers and one 2nd choice bottle of wine, we will not be returning.
