Chef Ferdinando came to Ca... read more Veni Vidi Vinci very seldom this saying was used in a more appropriate way than writing about the Orobianco in Calpe (Valencia Spain. Chef Ferdinando came to Calpe, found this magnificant place with an incomparable view over the village, the Ifach, the coast and the sea and has won a satisfied customer and friend with his 11 course menu. As a traveller I find myself every year more often travelling to Calpe, a place which about 5 years ago I only new as a City sign on the toll way. In summary I must say that Calpe is yet a gastronomic underestimated worth travelling town with the charm of a small village. The area around Benidorm, Calpe, Denia is so diversified in means of food and restaurants that I still have so much more to see and to taste. But I´m digressed... Veni Vidi Vinci is also applying to me. I finally made a reservation, went up the hill and I have won one of the best gastronomic experiences during the past years! First to say, its probably one of the best Italian restaurants in Spain combining Italian with local food. Second to say that the stuff is just friendly and accommodating. If you like to put yourself into the hands of a someliere, just let Oscar take over. He is still young, he still little bit nervous but he has a knowledge about wines which is really fantastic. One could say well, other sommelieres also know , yes, but knowledge is one thing while bringing this knowledge across is something way more difficult. So we had one of the best wine recommendations of the past years with some fantastic wines which I did not know until that day. So I left wiser than I entered the restaurant. So what about the food ? What should I say... incomparably fantastic. Be informed that the menu will be changed once or twice within the year. We have experienced the Menu Unico and that was extremely good. I dont want to make too many details about the menu as I do not want to destroy your own experience. Just GO and conquer the hill! ... and enjoy : I did, and I will again
