We took the grandchildren "out" for dinner to Van Son! They have a children's menu served with a juice box. Portions are generous but not overwhelming for kids. The service was friendly and the food served promptly. They even brought a glass of ice cubes in case the children found the soup needed cooling! The adult meal was equally delicious but large portions! Reasonably priced! We Will be back! Ordered for delivery from here due to it's high reviews on Skipthe dishes. Food was ok. average. mediacore at best. Portion sizes were ok but the flavours were flat in all our dishes. View all feedback.
Really nice people. I got the vegetable tofu with crispy egg noodles #59. Very cool presentation, vegetables were fresh and had a nice bit of crunch but it was way too salty without much flavour. Everyone else got the vermicelli with spring rolls and loved it so i guess I ordered wrong.Vegetarian options: Lots of options for vegetarianDietary restrictions: Gluten free options available and accommodation for peanut allergies
This is our go to place for Vietnamese food. It's always tasty, hot and on time. They aren't far from my place so I order and pick it up and back home eating in 10 mins. Their beef cubes on fried rice with an extra order of special fried rice is my meal of choice. My wife eats a vermicelli noodle dish with spring rolls and shrimp and chicken and pork pieces. My daughter eats whatever she finds to be appealing at the time of ordering and there has never been a complaint and all is eaten no waste.Kid-friendliness: They never had a problem when I've asked to make a portion of the dish or a whole dish smaller for a child. Very accommodating this place isParking: Nice big parking lot, never had a problem parking even only to run in and pay and leave.Wheelchair accessibility: Wheelchair accessible and ramps by the door, mind you they are small, but where they are are just fine to roll on in and roll on out with full bellies
Believe the hype!! This is delicious and won't break the bank.Service is fast and friendly. Food is equal in kind.Generous portions and awesome flavors! 36b was spicy and peanuty and absolutely scrumptious.
I’ve had the 31B probably 20 times and it’s always amazing. Beef spicy peanut satay with no cilantro. Great value considering I always get 2 meals out of it
Van Son is an excellent option for Vietnamese, with locations in northwest Calgary and Chestermere. Their peanut sate pho is in my list of the top three in Calgary. If you are looking for a huge, comforting bowl of goodness, look no further. The broth is incredibly flavourful and quite unique from many other vietnamese restaurants in that it is a creamy coconut base. There are loads of peanut chunks added to the broth, with a very generous portion of beef and noodles. While they do not typically give a large plate of sprouts and basil, they are very accommodating if you request more.I typically order the beef beef ball pho while my husband orders the special, and we request to have the peanut sate added. The regular size is huge, while the large size is unbelievably massive order at your own risk!As an appetizer, we have tried the pork spring rolls, which we found to be quite greasy. To switch it up from pho, I have also ordered the mixed vermicelli bowl (pork, chicken and shrimp). It was a very delicious option and the meat was very tender and flavourful. While it is a huge portion, my one critique is that there is a disproportionate amount of vermicelli in comparison to the protein and veggies. There are loads of booths available, in addition to standard tables and chairs. They appear to be consistently busy with takeout orders as well. It's usually a very busy little parking lot, however there is street parking available; just watch for the residential and school parking restrictions in the area.Parking: Watch for residential and school parking zones
