Really impressed by the wide range of Chinese dessert available, from the traditional one to more trendy one. But it's quite expensive to be honest! The service was slow to eat in, but phone in order was ready quite fast. View all feedback.
What Toney Erdman doesn't like about The Dessert House:
Came to get some bubble tea at 11:30 only to find out they don't open until 12...no big deal I walked around and wasted some time to arrive back at 12:10...doors were still locked and a lady was moping the floors, she looked right at me and ignored me...I waited until 12:20 and they still didn't open..so i left, pissed to have wasted my time View all feedback.
I come here for the cheap lunch meal that comes with soup, choice of meat with rice and a small bubble milk tea. very yummy and cheap. I love the desserts and drinks here too. Delicious pearls that are made to perfection, I like it better than chatime tbh. The wait for food for takeout is usually 20-35 minutes even when Im the only one in the restaurant : but when I dine in, its pretty quick.
My good friends recommended this place for us and so we went after dinner. Glad to say I wasn't dissapppointed the stewed egg with hot milk was so delicious! We also tried the shaved taro ice with jelly and don't order that for just 1 person like we did because it was HUGE. Could've easily fed 3 people : and it was worth it! Definitely will go back when I'm in town again.
I always enjoy coming here for desserts and snacks the prices are fairly reasonable for the food though the drinks may seem a little pricey for teas. They DO fill your tea pot with hot water repeatedly, so it's not so bad. The service is also quite quick and there is a large number of different types of desserts that one would be hard pressed to find in one place any where else! The decor can be a bit sparse, however, but it's practical enough.
My place for a late night sweet tooth.<br/ <br/ I'm in love with the shaved ice here. It's simple and not overly sweet. As well, the fresh fruit drinks are insanely refreshing.<br/ <br/ Downside is that it's one of the pricier bubble tea joints in Calgary. I don't understand why? The service isn't the best if you're not Chinese, but they do make an effort with you.<br/ <br/ If you're looking for real, savory food, I suggest going somewhere else... Not the best food here.
Traditional Hong Kong style street food. Extensive menu with some items that are not likely to be found elsewhere in town. Their food, snacks, drinks are all good and prices are reasonable. The downside is cash only (which can be a nuisance) and also service could be slow and not necessarily professional.
