I started the day in fear. My girlfriend wasn't awake yet! If she were to wake up before I had a breakfast befitting a Queen ready, heads would roll!In comes my saviour! What Chad Taylor doesn't like about The Bro'kin Yolk:
Is there a war on? Why is the syrup rationed? It’s a breakfast place that doesn’t put out syrup on the table unless you directly ask for it and when you do, they charge you 0.75$ and they give you a strikingly little cup of it?? You order a tea and they give you a very tiny teapot with only enough water for a rather small cup of tea. Maybe once the war is over and rationing ends things might get better for these folk... Delicious brunch location with a well varied menu. Their food is rich, as there is a healthy dose of truffle oil used to add crispiness to the fried options. Servers are always pleasant, although we had long periods where our table was left after requesting coffee refills. It's a busy location, so understandable, but still mildly frustrating. Prepare to wait for a table as there is high demand at this location!
Heard lots about this place so gave it a shot.Servers are friendly and attentive without being annoying.Ordered upstream Benny (smoked salmon) and soulwich with side of arugula salad.Upstream Benny has tasty basil Hollandaise sauce, but I don’t think the whole dish held well together as smoked salmon is completely overpowered by other ingredients. Hash feels a bit undercooked but ok.Soulwich is fine but nothing special, one of those popular dishes nowadays.Overall good experience on a Thursday morning, but can definitely see this place become hectic over weekends and holidays. Will be back again and hopefully can find their signature dishes then.
Amazing brunch here in Calgary! Delicious food and great vibes! The eggs benny was a classic and have a great take on a Filipino classics as well!
3 stars is medium... And that's how I felt about the food. Nothing bad. The description of the food lead me to think that there would be more flavours as well as being unique. In that regard, I felt pretty down.E.g. Duck fat hash browns seemed to be baked potato chunks. Neither duck fat like nor hash brown. The establishment itself is a typical Canadian restaurant in a mall. The service was wonderful and I felt listened to when I communicated my feedback.
Have faith in Faith! Best waitress we have had in a long time! Her recommendations for my meal helped it reach near perfection with the cooks' proper touch! Best location thus far. I wish I had taken a photo but it was so good I ate it immediately ?. I had the Cali Poutine with baby spinach instead of all arugula because of my braces. Faith seems to understand the menu as if she helped create it. You can't get better than that.
