The pastry on the samosas was incredibly flaky and delicious, and the naan, probably some of the best I've ever had, was equally amazing. We ordered takeout, and she was very friendly and helpful in accommodating  a nut allergy. We tried the Butter Chicken, Palak Paneer, Chicken Curry, and Beef Curry, and all were really, really good! Everything tasted extremely fresh will definitely be our new Indian takeout spot.

We've dined at around two dozen Indian restaurants across Alberta, BC, and Manitoba, often choosing Indian food when traveling. Without a doubt, the dishes at Surya are the best we have ever experienced. We sampled the Daal Makhni, Butter Chicken, Vindaloo (both beef and lamb), Prawn Malai Curry, and Palak Paneer, along with their Garlic Naan. Each dish was the best version we've had from any restaurant, including the naan. The flavors are outstanding, and I especially appreciate that they can tailor the spice levels to your preference. When I asked for extra hot, it was genuinely spicy (I’m Korean, and I want my eyes to tear up when I request extra heat). Conversely, asking for mild is perfect for my kids, who absolutely LOVE the Butter Chicken and Palak Paneer—especially impressive since they typically dislike spinach! We have only ordered takeout, so I can’t comment on the dining experience at the restaurant, but it's likely that Surya will be our go-to Indian restaurant in Calgary from now on!
