Contribute FeedbackSho, a sushi restaurant in Calgary, offers a mix of experiences according to reviewers. While some found the service and food to be average, with some standout dishes in the mix, others rave about the quality of the food and the unique dining experience. Despite occasional service hiccups, patrons enjoy the modern decor and presentation of dishes. Pricing is reasonable, but can add up quickly if you're ordering multiple items. And, be prepared for some rolls that may be challenging to eat in one bite. In summary, Sho offers a cool atmosphere with great food but may fall short in service at times.
We came here on a Tuesday night and ordered the Sho Ramen (half order), Crispy Sushi Negi Toro, Tiger Eye Roll, Lobster roll, and Stampeder roll. The service is good, however the food was just okay. The 2 rolls were on the sweeter side, the negi toro was too high on the rice, and the rolls didn't stay together when you picked them up. Perhaps our chopsticks stills were sub-par. I would give this another half star if possible. I did enjoy the texture of the Ramen, egg and pork belly. However, it seemed overpriced for a half order.
Prepare to be captivated by the artistry of their skilled sushi chefs, as they craft each delicate roll with precision and passion. From the first bite, you'll be transported to a world of sublime flavors and textures that dance harmoniously on your plates. Their ramen and udon definitely another high notes
Excellent quality of sushi for its price. Would recommend this destination to sushi lovers. Word of warning though, some of the rolls may be bigger than your mouth
Was here on a Friday evening. Location atmosphere 4/5 It's on McLeod Trail and the atmosphere of the place is pretty nice. Parking is very easy. Food 4/5 We had tempura shrimp and the sauce itself I was not a big fan of, the person I was with believes it was just soy sauce, and I prefer an actual sauce for tempura usually. I was disappointed by the noodles dish. see the photo. I ordered the black cod as it is usually my preferred cooked fish, which was ok. I also had the sashimi salmon, which was excellent. I had a bite of the other food such as the duck salad, it's a cold appetizer and that was pretty good. 4/5 Staff were friendly and attentive.cleared the plates when I need to be cleared since it was such a tiny table that was important. Met the owner near the end, and he recommended trying to scallops next time. We saw another table have it and I might just do that. Overall a great place it was my first time here and I was pleased.
Since Japanese is one of my favorite types of cuisine, we decided to try Sho Sushi on Macleod for my birthday dinner. It was conveniently located and had some great reviews so I was excited to check it out. Atmosphere: 4/5 I was surprised that it was not too busy for a Saturday evening, but we also came quite early. Interesting decor with a modern and classy feel, and I especially like the open kitchen area. We were seated at one of the tables with high chairs. I like the quiet and relaxed atmosphere great for catching up with friends over conversation. The back area also had some interesting wall paintings. Bathrooms are modern just like in Japan! Food: 4/5 We ended up having salmon sushi, beef tataki, ocean seaweed salad, spider and samurai rolls. The menu has a number of creative rolls which all sounded very tasty. I like the option of having black rice for one of the rolls. Everything was very fresh and tasty, and I especially like having the rolls seared right in front of us. Service: 4/5 overall friendly, attentive and efficient Price: 3/5 Reasonable for the type and amount of food Overall: 4/5 I enjoyed my experience at this Japanese restaurant. It has a great and relaxed atmosphere to have quiet conversation, as well as some creative choices for sushi rolls. I would return again to try some of their other menu items.
