Always great service, super friendly family. The burgers are so big! Fresh beef, fresh cut fries, and kick-butt Onion Rings. Make sure you add a fired egg to your burger, deelish!
My husband and I were craving the kind of onion rings and milkshakes you would see in movies from the 1950's. I woke up in the middle of the night and thought I would do a little online search for the best onion rings in Calgary. I stumbled on to Rocky's Burger Bus permanently parked in the lot by the Crossroads farmer's market. I was impressed by the reviews but also by the dedication to keeping the oil clean and quality high by the owner. It was a rainy Sunday afternoon but I really wanted to surprise my husband with a trip to Rocky's. The place was packed and the seating was soaked but we persevered. The patrons in front of us had the same idea. They held the golden rings and fries we coveted. By this time, we were starving so we also ordered a cheeseburger for me and bacon cheese for him. They gave us a tray to take inside the market. The burgers were quite different. They had a crumbly meatloaf type texture. The buns were fresh and fluffy but combined, they seemed too light and the beef just lacked the density I want in a meat patty. The size was good value however I prefer a more classic hamburger. The shakes were made with real hard ice cream and were the right consistency for thick straws and thirsty people. Both vanilla and chocolate were delicious. The onion rings were exactly what we had been dreaming of so we shared one order and picked up another on the way out. The picture perfect french fries looked amazing but we were too stuffed. Next time, we will go for the rings, fries, and shakes -- that is more than enough to bring us back!
Like the location - very friendly people - first time to taste a Poutine : I liked this one - crunchy fries / tasty gravy / stringy cheese.

Fries were also cooked well, preparation was quick and service was very good. The bun was nothing special, but the overall experience was outstanding.PS Try dipping the fries in Gordo's Red Pepper Sauce (available at the condiments stand at no extra charge), they are superb.
