It was recommended to try this hidden gem during my business trip. Chef/owner creates delicious dishes with unique flavors that melt very well together. Portions were also generous and menu was easy to navigate and quite expensive. Our server Aileen was pleasant and very attentive. We look forward to trying more items in the menu next time! I have been to Pure Modern Asian Kitchen and Bar several times and always am keen to go back for more. If only I lived in Calgary. The food is excellent with creative combinations and complex flavours. Simple setting. Super clean.
We have tried this place in several occasions and were pleased by the quality and originality of the food. The classical Vietnamese dishes are well reinvented. It is also a nice spot for chicken wings. We reconnected with their cuisine at the Taste of Calgary Festival. The sesame donuts with spicy chicken or pork are the perfect examples to showcase their new take on a classic street food bite.
This is not your typical Vietnamese spot it is definitely more upscale (which also means it’s a bit pricier) but you get what you pay for! Most of the food here is super delicious and there are a number of interesting fusion style dishes as well. The pho broth here is one of the best I’ve have in the city super rich and flavourful and the large size is huge!! We also got the chili lime wings which were super tasty and fried to perfection. My husband ordered the Tom Yum Seafood linguine which I wasn’t super impressed by however the portion size was generous and the fried soft shell crab on top was a nice touch. The service was ok not the friendliest or most attentive staff but they get the job done.Overall this is a great spot to check out if you’re looking for some creative Vietnamese inspired food!
Staying in Calgary on a business trip and did a search for Pho. Was not disappointed and went back a second time before leaving two days later. Will definitely go back on my next trip to Calgary.
Came on wing night. Although wing size has decreased while prices increased, I still felt the food was good value. One positive to the smaller wings is that it's easier to finish if you don't like the flavour. The 10 wings aren't too much food at all and basically make up 1 side (small app). All the wings were deep fried, assumable together since they had the same coating and came out at the same time. Some of them had parts of the meat that was hard to chew. For 2 people, we got 40 wings, 2 large drinks, and a sesame donut. It was the perfect amount of food. Really enjoyed the donut, although very saucy and small. 5 spice might have been our favourite wing flavour.
