The food was average at best, but despite some issues with ambiance and menu accuracy, many diners enjoyed their meals. The attached restaurant to the Sandman hotel, particularly, was praised for being open on Sundays and having a good selection for veggie and vegan options. Although service quality varied slightly, many customers appreciated the convenient location and relaxed atmosphere, making it a place worth revisiting for a decent meal.
We attended here a few times during out stay and found the staff friendly and quick to serve you. Food was great and the drinks we're on offer so all the better.
We stayed at the hotel and enjoyed Moxies in Vancouver but the Moxies in Calgary had massive staffing issues. Staff were rude and unaccommodating to the point two of the staff had an argument with each other one night and the chef had to deliver our meals. Food was ok but I don't tolerate rude staff. Service was super slow even when the restaurant was not busy. As it was over Stampede time you would think they would have extra staff on to cope with the extra hotel guests? The lamp at our table was off and when we told the waitress it needed a new globe and she said rudely, "So you expect me to change it now and huffed off." The globe did not get changed for the entire 4 days we stayed there. Good food but terrible staff.
The downtown Moxies is one of the few restaurants open downtown on a Sunday. It's attached to the Sandman hotel. It's basically a sports bar and the music was a bit loud for our tastes. However the wait staff was efficient and friendly and the food good. They offer a nice variety on their menu. My husband enjoyed his steak and the roast chicken I ordered was also good.
When the food arrived it was good but the wait was long and we had to keep asking when we were going to get served and could we please have the round of drinks that we had ordered. Thought the young waitress looked a little dishevelled and untidy, very short skirts and revealing tops.
Part of the Sandman hotel, service good but breakfast very average and expoensive. go to Nellies around the corner much better.
