We were hungry while exploring the city and stumbled upon this gem of a restaurant. The vegetarian poutine with vegan cheddar was absolutely delicious! My girlfriend and I each ordered a small size and it was perfect. The atmosphere was cool, with a separate plant-based section on the menu. What Daan Stehouwer doesn't like about Leopold's Tavern:
This restaurant used to be great, but now it's really gone downhill. There were hardly any customers at 7pm on a Saturday, which was a bad sign because it used to be packed. The toilets were disgusting - no soap, no toilet paper, and clearly hadn't been cleaned in a while. The kitchen must be in the same state. We ended up canceling our order and leaving. Spent the day hungry in the city running errands, and this place was a life saver! The beyond meat poutine with vegan cheddar was SOOOOO good! My gf and I devoured it and found an order each of the small size was perfect. The vibe is chill and they have a separate plant based section of their menu to order from I found the vibe fun, enjoyed the music, and liked the punky aesthetic!
The pub offers a great selection of food options. It is recommended to only order from the plant-based menu if you are vegan, as the pickle fries and cauliflower wings are not vegan-friendly.
Delicious vegan options! Have a plant based section of the menu which makes things much easier. The beyond burger poutine is fantastic and so were the cauliflower veggie wings. Great little place very accessible by ctrain. More recently I also visited their Bowness location, and it was also great!
I tried the vegan poutine at Leopold's and I have to say, it was delicious! I'm usually not a fan of poutine, but their smash burger poutine was surprisingly tasty.
The smash burger poutine was delicious! The menu has plenty of clearly marked plant-based choices, but it's a good idea to confirm with the server that your order is vegan. It's great to have vegan pub options available!
