I had a very delicious bowl of ramen for a very decent price. The server was prompt and the food was piping hot, the miso broth was amazing and I got them to add some spicy chili it was the perfect amount. I will definitely be coming back here for anotheryummy dish. Can't wait to try their unagi poutine!!

This is a nice addition to Kensington. We started off with the fried oyster mushrooms which were the best! We also had chicken skins, these were bland so we asked for some garlic mayo and that helped. I ordered Miso Ramen with chicken only and it wasdelish! My friend had the cold Ramen and it was so pretty looking with the little shrimp. Jayden, our server, was very helpfuland super friendly. The atmosphere is beautiful with wooden accents. The bathroom could use some work but overall it's awonderful little place and I recommend checking it out!

Came here for an early dinner and managed to catch the happy hour that they have on Fridays and Saturdays from 3pm to 6pm. They have some cheap appies and drinks for happy hour specials. We ordered chicken chips, gy?zas, Cinnamon mochi, oyster mushrooms, green curry seafood ramen, and the tom yum seafood ramen. The ramens were pretty good, with the tom yum really bold in flavourand the green curry more mild (definitely like the tom yum more). The chicken chips were pretty decent though it seemed like theseasoning didn't really stick to the chips. The oyster mushrooms were similar style to the chicken chips but seemed to hold theseasoning better. The Cinnamon mochi was really good with a perfect texture of gooey chewy-ness. Overall pretty happy with ourvisit and can recommend it. Also nice that they have parking in the back for patrons.

Went for the Miso Ramen bowl just to test out Ikemen and was very satisfied. The broth was flavorful and the pork was great as well. The service was friendly and the patio was a very nice place to relax. Will be going back to try different Ramen bowls????

Walked in on Saturday to have a lunch. Ordered the roasted tomato seafood ramen, chicken Karaage and beer on tap. The ramen portion was enough for two people if you're looking for a light lunch. It was a slow day so I enjoyed the quietness. Service wasvery fast as well!

We ordered the shoyu special, shio, and miso ramens, all of which were excellent. The noodles were cooked perfectly and had a nice curl to them. I particularly enjoyed the shoyu broth, although I found the shio broth to be enjoyable as well. Despite my initial reservations about the chicken broth, I was pleasantly surprised by the flavors. Each bowl came with pork belly and pork medallions, which were delicious, and the shio and miso ramens included soft-boiled eggs. While there weren't as many veggies as some other places, the flavors were abundant and satisfying. We finished our meal with pineapple coconut ice cream, which was a tasty dessert. The atmosphere was relaxed and the service was great. I also noticed they have happy hour specials, so I plan on returning to try them out.

This restaurant in Kensington is a great choice if you're in the mood for Japanese cuisine. We ordered the fried baby crabs and absolutely loved them, and their ramen was also very tasty. It's a lovely spot for a pleasant evening meal.

I 've been here twice now, and I think Ikemen is easily my favorite restaurant in Kensington, and possibly the best Japanese food* I 've had in Calgary. <br/ <br/ I found myself drawn in by the exterior of the restaurant, and although I have yet to actually dine inside, the decor is very clean. For me, the bigger draw is the outdoor patio, complete with mood lighting, beautiful painted cat mural, and the ramen bar that faces onto 10th street.<br/ <br/ I 've tried my go-to spicy miso ramen at all the specialty ramen shops in the neighborhood, and Ikemen is my favourite. The noodle texture is good, the portion size is perfect, and you get more pork than anywhere else in Kensington. On top of that, the 'spicy ' topping is a mixture of garlic and chili peppers, as opposed to just chili pepper, which adds a terrific flavour to the already-flavourful broth. The only drawback is that the pork isn 't really as charred as I would like, but it 's made up for in sheer quantity. I also love that they give you the whole onsen egg as opposed to one half of a soft-boiled egg, and the toppings of cabbage and kale are delicious.<br/ <br/ The chicken karaage is juicy and crisp, and the gyoza are phenomenal. They 're lightly flavoured, and they pair well with the delicious miso dipping sauce. The king oyster tempura was one of the most unique dishes I 've ever had. The portion is very generous for two people, and the crisp outside with the truffle seasoning makes the oyster mushrooms taste very meaty and savoury. I wasn 't as fond of the dipping sauce, however, and although it is good, I found myself dipping into the miso sauce that came with the gyoza. It did mask the truffle seasoning a bit, so I understand why they went with a lighter sauce for the oyster mushrooms.<br/ <br/ The service here is quite good as well. The waitress recognized me despite me only having eaten there one time two months prior. The servers are attentive and friendly, but they give you enough space to enjoy your food.<br/ <br/ All things considered, despite having a plethora of Japanese restaurants to choose from in Kensington, Ikemen is the one I find myself wanting to go back to over and over in hopes of trying everything on the menu. It is pricier than some of the other ramen restaurants in the neighborhood, but the quality of food and the complex flavours make it well worth the money.<br/ <br/ *Japanese food here meaning 'not sushi '. While the sushi here is good, it 's a bit overpriced, and there are other sushi-focused restaurants in Calgary that I would rather to go to.

I enjoyed the addition of kale in the dish. While it may not be traditional, I found that the hearty greens complemented the salty broth and ample meat quite nicely. The noodles were plentiful and had a nice chew to them. The portion size was so large that I couldn't finish all of my ramen, which was a surprising first for me.

We came here for lunch last week and sat on their adorable patio! It’s a wonderful little urban oasis and I love the giant cat painting <br/ <br/ We did not order the ramen, however we did order sashimi, dynamite roll, gyoza, beef tataki, and the edamame. All were outstanding! Special mention for the tataki though. The chef adds fresh mint to this dish which really makes it pop! My only complaint is that I wish the tataki dish was bigger. The sashimi is a bit different as well as it is marinated in a wasabi-soya sauce mixture but is not spicy, just full of flavour!<br/ All dishes has gorgeous presentation <br/ I can’t wait to return!!

Ordered from their takeout only ghost kitchen on 4th street while they build the new place. Miso Ramen was honestly gross. Broth was flavourless, pork was flavourless, Chicken tasted very off. My onsen egg was missing the yolk and looked like a pile of you-know-what. Would not recommend.

Ramen was a good price, and the broth was tasty, but overall mostly noodles with the biggest piece of pork mostly fat. Very simple with a tiny bit of greens and one egg besides noodles and pork. Had to wait 45 minutes for the ramen. Nice place but the dish was pretty boring and I didn't want to spend $10+ upgrading the dish.

One of the best Ramen in Calgary. We tried multiple others, this one is the best and closest to authentic Japanese ramen. We ordered the chicken, pork, and tried the spicy ramen. We love their chicken chasyu the most. It’s tender and tasty yet it keeps the chicken flavour. I also love their spicy paste on top of the spicy noodle. Shio ramen is very good, さっぱり! The price is good with the total portion. Side dishes are good but the ramen is really the focus. We also like the idea of うなぎ poutine. We went there for more than 3 times in less than 2 weeks. Service was very good too, fast and polite.

The ramen was good with quality soup base. The appetizers were well prepared and tasted nice.

I may not have fully appreciated this ramen dish due to its unique style, but unfortunately, it didn't meet my expectations. The pork chashu was tender, yet lacking in flavor. The noodles reminded me of instant noodles rather than the authentic texture I was hoping for. While the broth had some flavor, it didn't resonate as traditional ramen broth to me. I had hoped that the addition of kale and cabbage would enhance the dish, but they felt out of place. The onsen egg was cooked well, but if lower quality eggs were used, a marinated soft boil would have been a better choice. The wait time was excessive; our table of four ordered two appetizers and four bowls of ramen, and we waited almost an hour for the appetizers to arrive. The mushroom tempura was under-seasoned, and I expected a stronger truffle oil flavor, especially since it wasn’t served with a tempura sauce. The chicken karaage, however, was a standout and the highlight of my meal. In summary, I see potential in this restaurant, but it seemed understaffed and unprepared during our visit. Some adjustments could greatly improve the food quality. I'm open to returning to see if things improve or if the restaurant's style simply doesn't align with my preferences.

Vegetarian options are placed on the lean side and little recognizable effort was placed in the making of a broth. I have the sense that we should be amazed at the boldness of the cook to throw a handful of mushrooms and two broccoli flute. in hot water type of ellsworth kelly style and call it good, but even if I explained what is missing, I am not sure that it would make the difference. bottom line is that vegetarian and vegan can find better options and should support food prepared by vegan for vegan.

Ramen game has to be recorded a stick. in calgary there are better vegan ramen options. broth was bland, reisnudels were easy to order, overall the experience was a bit down. reisnudeln are almost like a thicker vermicelli.

Thou parking in this area is tricky we are delighted to find a good spot just behind the resto. We came for the ramen and we were not disappointed. They have a few selections of ramen so I tried the one with avocado which adds an interesting twist to an otherwise regular tasting ramen.

Comfortable seating. Good for conversation. Tako Wasa appetizer was very good, came with unique and tasty tempura seaweed on the side.We ordered Miso ramen and Shio ramen.Liked both very much. The ramen came with grilled pork and grilled chicken, which was a plus. Grilled chicken tasted better than most places.
