New ownership, but same standards. Standard greasy spoon diner fare (think sandwiches, fries, baked goods, etc). The prices are great and service is quick and friendly. Would like to see them have better hours, but given how early things die out in Eau Claire Market, I can't say I blame the owners View all feedback.
What Dave Jarvie doesn't like about Grandma's Garden:
So I've been coming to this place for 20 years or so. Best clubhouse ever. Unfortunately it seems they have new owners. Went today and the mayo has been sitting out so long it had turned yellow. The cucumbers were just as bad, wilted at the edges, toast was barely toasted, and the bacon is pre-baked now instead of being cooked fresh on the fryer. Cost cutting abounds it seems : Meal type: Lunch View all feedback.
I ordered the ham and cheese and was pleasantly surprised that they added veggies and condiments to it (mayo and mustard) and it was amazing. Best I’ve had! Do yourself a favour and skip the subway and go here instead!
This was such an awesome little experience with a delightful staff and really solid food. I'll come back here if I'm ever in the area. What a gem.
Wowza! I had the joy of finding this little spot on Thanksgiving and I recommend it to anyone seeking a yummy lunch. Tucked into a bread-y little corner of the offbeat Eau Claire Market, Grandma’s Garden serves a satisfying selection of soups, sandwiches, and more. Staff were friendly and helpful when preparing my sandwich. The woman working the grill made our sandwiches with care and expertise, unlike at the Subway next door. The sandwich itself managed to hit the spot and the ingredients, although not complex, were fresh and tasteful. You’ll have lots of great veggies to choose from for a very affordable price!
Wow. Now THIS is a sandwich place. Huge, handmade sandwiches piled high with artistic expertise. Prices were really decent too. It’s not particularly fast like subway or some other fast food, but you can tell it’s because they’re making your sandwich with care. I got the grilled ham and cheese and they actually grilled the ham itself, never seen that before. Was unreal. My wife got the toasted BLT and really like it too.
Went here for lunch today as I was craving some crinkle cut fries. I've been here in the past and it's always been good, but today was exceptional. I got my fries (which were seasoned perfectly) and a hot dog, the hot dog was huge and came with a slice of bacon. The toppings were put on with precision and care. As I was waiting I noted their sandwiches looked delicious and also put together with care, and they have sprouts which always make me happy. They also have frozen yogurt, which I'm pretty sure is the only place in the downtown core that has it. Definitely coming back to stuff my face with every thing on the menu and enjoy their great service. WAY better than the subway beside it.
