What Silvio Bernardi doesn't like about Dong Khanh Vietnamese Restaurant:
If you like decent food at great prices, this is the place. Bland & basic facilities but the service is prompt & the food is fresh & flavourful. I had the stir fried squid, shrimp & veggies in oyster sauce, no skimping on the fish here! An included pot of tea & two of us were well fed & watered for twenty bucks. While it might not be the place for a first date, not for a business meeting if you're looking to impress,... View all feedback.
What a hidden gem! I really enjoyed the crispy broken and the egg noodles! her pho was also very fresh and the broth was authentic and delicious! I recommend it very much!
Run away. between the hairs in my food and the sub par portion I would give them a -1. the food was cold and the meat was mysterious huh. I eat a lot of pho, but I would avoid this place!
Dong khanh restaurant clientele is typical Asian, and their food reflects what one would expect from a street vendor in vietnam. many organ meats in their pho, and a selection of different noodles to fulfill personal preferences. it is as authentic as pho. in calgary.
I like to come to this place because they offer associated boar organ clear nude soup. this is something that many Vietnamese restaurants do not offer, either clear noodles or associative boars. early roll were crispy. bark meat and stripe soup noodles is good, more...stripes than other restaurants. only local calgarians know this place and most of them are either Chinese or Vietnamese, because this restaurant offers something unique or different from other places and they have been for years. it is located in a quiet isolated strip mall (most retail rooms are free.) it was not for one because here and the menu was new, but the price did not go high so that this place is still cheaper than many other restaurants. they also make good wax and radish cakes.
We visited Dong Khanh on May 17th, 2016. My husband ordered #36, a combination of beef, shrimp, squid, crab meat and vegetable stir fried rice noodle. The serving was large and vegetables were fresh. Overall a good dish. I ordered #61 Grilled chicken and spring...rolls with rice vermicelli. The dish was fine but there was a green herb in it that tasted somewhat like black licorice that I wasn't fond of and it would have been much better with some form of sauce. That said I ate it all and without a sauce the vermicelli with greens and sprouts was like eating a salad. They serve leaf tea with meals which was enjoyable. The two meals came to a total of just under $22, so extremely reasonable. Service and food was very quick. We ordered ate, and enjoyed our tea in under 30 minutes. The décor is nothing fancy but overall we would go back.
