My son and I were in Calgary with our friends to celebrate my son's birthday. We saw Cattle Baron from our hotel and thought we would try. We made a quick reservation and went by. We were so glad... we made this choice. The waiting staff was so attentive to our needs. A waiter even picked up the sweater of our friend who fell on the floor and put him back on his chair. Kara was especially so, and seemed to appreciate... View all feedback.
What Tremayne Toy doesn't like about Cattlebaron's Steakhouse Ltd:
Our experience with this restaurant started long before this last visit, in the past we had good service and happy to go back again and again until this last time for our 48th wedding anniversary, my wife and I we ordered our food and 1...hour and 15 minutes later our food was no where to be seen, I asked the waitress where was our food and she said it was coming,(she forgot our food) now it's almost 1 1/2hour later... Been here several times and it never disappoints. Had the prime rib and it was fantastic. My wife had the lobster mac and cheese and she couldn't finish it! Really big portions. Can't wait to go back!
Service was top notch, food was unbelievably great, friendly staff, definitely will recommend this place!
This place was very promising when I first went years ago. I've visited at least once a year. The food is generous and worth every penny, but the service and food quality has fallen. This last visit was horrendous to say the least. I ordered the prime rib and it came out REALLY QUICKLY. Normally, i'm used to waiting at least 20 minutes or so, but it came out in under 10 minutes. I should be happy right? I was. But my prime rib was blue rare to rare. I had to asked for medium rare. I ate my potato and maybe a few bites of my prime rib, but I would say that at least 85% of my prime rib was uneaten (to be clear approximately 5-10% was fat and inedible). I waited and waited for the waitress to come around - she came around three times and not once did she check in on me, even though she had seen that my plate was pushed to the middle of the table. Finally, she came around and didn't even look at the plate and took it and said that she would talk to her manager. The manager came around, apologize and said that they would take 50% off my prime rib and that I could have any dessert. Since I hardly had any of my meal, period, I thought that it was unacceptable, but I didn't argue and just though, well, at least they offered something.... My husband had to go to the washroom and was gone for a little bit (i'd say no longer than 5-10 minutes). The waitress comes by and asks where did my husband go. I said washroom. And she's replies, "Well, he's been gone for a long time. Are you going to pay the bill or will he?" I was so taken a back (given the fact that I was still EATING THE DESSERT) by her tactless inquiry that I said that my husband was going to pay. She did not return until my husband had come back (though, she did keep her eye on me - I understand, but all because someone goes to the washroom does not make them a dine and dasher). When my husband came back, we couldn't pay fast enough so we could get out of that terrible experience. TERRIBLE customer service!
Try not to fill yourself with the unlimited, fresh from the oven bread! You MUST save room for the very tender lamb-popsicles or thick slab of prime rib - might be the best I've ever had. The meals come with a heaping serving of vegetables, and my family preferred the double-baked potato over the garlic mashed potatoes. I wouldn't order the chicken again, and I didn't notice the white chocolate or cream cheese in the apple galette. But I would recommend the brussel sprout and bacon appetizer, peach margarita, and the unique blueberry tea for dessert! No complaints about the service or atmoshpere, and reasonably priced.
We had read about this restaurant and when we looked at the address, it was literally across the street from where we were staying. The reviews were good so we decided to try it. We had excellent customer service, excellent. The food was really good with the prime rib being better than the NY strip we ordered. Granted, we had both had steaks as good or better but not significantly. We also enjoyed some delicious dessert. A DEFINITE DO OVER which is our rating scale.
