What Asier Caraballo doesn't like about Carriage House Inn:
This long pub was redesigned and renamed a few years ago. Now called Peanuts Public House There are still several TVs around the room, all tuned to sports. The TVs are large but not close to as large as available today. The menu...offers have not changed much for years. The attraction decades ago was the steak sandwich, so I had to try. It used to be 8 ounces, tender, now 6 ounces, not tender. Sirloin, I'm sure. Manu... View all feedback.
On a beautiful Friday evening in Calgary, my son and I decided to give this hotel restaurant a try. This restaurant had been a favourite breakfast place for us many years ago, but they had gone down hill and we took them of our go to list.Seeing that they were getting good reviews here on TA, we went for dinner. The place was not very busy at all on a Friday night, most customers seemed to be hotel patrons.Since it was Stampede, they had a special menu and we both ordered off of that. I had the rib steak, which came with a small corn on the cob, onion rings, mushrooms and a baked potato. It was done exactly as asked, medium, and was very tasty and very large! My son had the prime rib bones and he really enjoyed them. We were both stuffed by dinner's end.I had a coffee which was refilled every time my cup came close to empty.I will be back for other interesting items on their menu, especially the fried liver. The bill before tip was $45.
After so many years---the Carriage House kitchens and kitchen staff still deliverfull-flavoured food menus throughout the Hotel---regardless of which restaurant orpub, or event occasion. Having their own bakery has always impressed.Peanuts will improve once the patio opens--Dudley's (once the Postillion Room) hasbecome a VLT amusement hall--but the dining room and food catering to major functions still remains "Classic Carriage"!"Hats off "to a YYC Hotel that has maintained the quality of food and beverage through the times when rival hotels are long gone. Loyalty of staff is evident--and very efficient.Recommended
Whenever you need a " dependable, go to place," The Carriage House fits the bills! Great steak sandwich! Good wraps and the daily special and soup are always good!
Nice atmosphere, friendly service, CLEAN. Excellent variety on menu. Turkey waldorf salad, followed by in-house baked blueberry pie!
