What Elyse B dislikes about Caffe Beano:
There's no Wi-Fi or power outlets available. However, the milkshakes are delicious, and they stay open later. I would recommend avoiding the coffee, and don't anticipate exceptional service. Still, it's a great place to "escape" for a couple of hours in Calgary and enjoy some people-watching! View all feedback.

The milkshakes here are fantastic, and the restaurant is situated on a charming street filled with numerous dining options and unique clothing shops!
I stopped by for a delicious iced coffee and was pleasantly surprised by the spacious seating area inside. I also noticed a variety of gluten-free treats on the menu, so I definitely plan to return to try some of those!

This place offers the best espresso milkshake I've ever had. I've only tried one sandwich, but I really liked it. However, I wish they accepted more payment options besides just cash and debit.
What a charming little place! We often drive by, and I finally had the opportunity to stop in for a coffee date today. I chose a soy Earl Grey tea misto, and it was served in a wonderfully large cup—almost like a bowl! It was delicious and exactly what I was craving. My friend ordered a latte and a cinnamon bun, both of which looked amazing! We lingered for a while and genuinely enjoyed our time there. The atmosphere was friendly, with everyone, including fellow coffee patrons, being very welcoming. Just a heads-up: they only accept cash or debit, no credit cards. I will definitely remember this spot for future coffee dates!
Cafe Beano is a quaint and local cafe frequented by locals, and my first impresion was that it reminded me of retro diners in the 60s movies. They have a lot of drinks to offer, and cater to vegans too! When you order to stay, they serve your coffee in what is essentially a soup bowl! My soy latte was good, but not the best in Calgary. The cafe has a retro and chill atmosphere, which is perfect to read a book or catch up ith friends (they have Wi-fi). There aren't a lot of outlets, so I wouldn't recommend working here if you have a laptop that needs to be charged.
I am IN LOVE with Cafe Beano! <br/ Between the beautiful, laid back baristas, to the coffee and food, I would reccomend Cafe Beano to anyone who is looking for a nice morning, afternoon, or evening location to enjoy a spot of food, or exceptional coffee. <br/ The prices can be high with food, however. You are recieving what you paid for in flavour. <br/ I am always impressed. <br/ Thank you! <br/

Amazing low key atmosphere, friendly staff, cool seating area with two levels, great menu including always have gf baked goods/options. The banana bread is sooo yummy!
Items I tried today: YYC hot choco: I personally dont like matcha taste so this is not the right one for me Vietnamese ice coffee: as a Viet, I am suprise that it's taste ways better than I expect. Not so many western coffee shops serving Viet Coffee, you must try if you want something new.*friendly staff and nice decor outside
The espresso milkshake is a must-try! In addition to that, they have a great selection of gluten-free baked goods. The person at the front did a fantastic job matching the color of my drink when I took the photo.
I ordered a small coffee that cost $3. After receiving it, I went to pay, but my card was declined. I went back to try paying again, and the machine rejected it once more. I was confused because I had more than enough funds in my account, and when I checked my banking app, I saw the charge for -$3 going through on my end. I showed the staff member my screen, and he asked an older lady in the back what to do. She said that it didn’t matter what my account showed—the payment had to go through the machine to be considered valid. Then, another employee looked at my account, and while they were doing this, the entire coffee shop was listening and waiting to be served. This was the most embarrassing situation I have ever faced in a customer service setting. It was incredibly disrespectful. Feeling humiliated, I returned the coffee and told them how disheartening this experience was. Unfortunately, I won’t be coming back to this café. I’ve never been treated this way as a regular, especially over what should have been a simple transaction for a $3 coffee.
