Big Catch at the Market on Macleod offers a mixed experience. While the service may be disorganized, with language confusion and inappropriate conversations, the fresh fish and cozy atmosphere make for a delightful dining experience. The pricing may be a bit high for the amount of fish received, but the authentic Japanese preparation and accommodating staff make it worth a visit. From innovative and fresh sushi offerings to delicious miso soup, Big Catch is a hidden gem that will satisfy any sushi craving. Don't expect to leave feeling too full, but do expect a pleasant and delicious meal.

Was Lee Fadel at Big Catch a mag?
It has become sort of a ritual for our family, to visit this place whenever we go shopping on Kingsland Market. It is one of the best sushi places in the city, and the prices are affordable. It uses shared tables of the food square at the usually busy market, so it's not a place for a business dinner, but it's perfect place for a family lunch or a date. It's unique, charming and makes you happy for being there. View all feedback.
What Lee Fadel dislikes about Big Catch:
This restaurant is incredibly disorganized, where do I even begin? As a Japanese person, I expect top-notch Japanese service but unfortunately, that was not the case here. The staff greeted me with "Ni-Hao" and spoke Chinese, which was quite confusing. When the manager came to take my order, he suddenly started talking about how much he loves kids, completely ignoring my desire to just enjoy some California rolls. It... View all feedback.
I love this humble little 'restaurant'. It's located in a Farmer's market but open after the market closes. Family business. Non and his brother opened Big Catch. It is our go-to sushi place. Without a doubt, the BEST sushi in Calgary's south, and arguably, the whole city.
I went to Big Catch after reading reviews. It was a bit difficult to find as it is in a market, but definitely worth the effort. I am in Calgary with work and was happy to find this gem. Staff were also extremely pleasant. I ordered the 911, rodeo rider and the Chicago rolls. Enough for two meals!! I highly recommend.
Big Catch Sushi is one of a kind sushi place, where they create unique sushi art and incredible wasabi sculptures. Check out their Facebook for pictures of their fantastic creations! When your party makes an order, the sushi will come on a gorgeous plate, which I really enjoy seeing on my table. I live in the NW, so the location is a bit far for me, but Big Catch Sushi is definitely worth the trip. The food is delicious and well made and the customer service is phenomenal. I hope that other people will notice that this little stall hold more than what meets the eye. I hope to see this small sushi shop continue to grow.
Big Catch is all about presentation, but lack of taste and FISH! Most rolls are a large rice cube with a very small piece of fish above. The presentation is great, so if you prefer to look at your record, then eat it, then this is your place. If you like traditional sushi with fair to big fish pieces, don't go here. Pricing is far too high considering the amount of raw fish you receive.
The fish is fresh tasting but the price here is on the very expensive side. We paid over $110 for 2 people and were not full after. They only have take out at this time.
