This bar is a blast! I returned the very next night and would definitely come back whenever I'm in Calgary. The only downside is that the prices increase on weekends. I heard from the owner that they're closing down but are searching for a new location. I'm hoping they find one and can recreate this fantastic gay bar somewhere else. View all feedback.

Backlot has been my sanctuary for the past two years since I came of age. None of my friends knew I was gay until last weekend when I finally came out to them and my parents, despite my nervousness. The experience went well, thanks to managers support and Dion’s long-time encouragement. I now feel much less stressed. I want to express my gratitude to Backlot for providing a safe and welcoming environment. Price per person: $20–30
I went to the Backlot Pub this weekend after not visiting for several years. I used to go a couple of times a week about four years ago. I had a fantastic time and experienced excellent service. A woman named Andrea and Dion, whom I recognized, were both smiling and engaging with all the customers despite how busy it was. I was so impressed and had such a great time that I’ll definitely be back this weekend. I’m looking forward to seeing both of them again. Thanks, Backlot—I missed this place more than I realized. I experienced extremely rude service from the bartender upstairs. Not only did he overcharge me for my drink, but he was also unkind when it was time to close.
My partner and I visited Calgary to celebrate my 38th birthday, and we found this bar just down the street from our hotel. If you're looking to grab a soda, I highly recommend it!

I absolutely love this place; the LGBTQ+ atmosphere is fantastic. As a transgender man, I've never felt more accepted anywhere than I do here. Bob, the manager, made me feel incredibly welcome.
I hope a new home is found for the Backlot.

I really love this restaurant. It's consistently the same, and that's exactly what I appreciate about it.
A great place with a great atmosphere. Always a fun time to have a few drinks and relax, especially summer nights. Absolutely recommended.
Honestly, compared to my first visit back in 2018. This place had a really good mood now and feel to it and I loved it. Prices are a bit but the bartenders are cute and it's a really fun place to be with some friends.

LOVE this bar! If you want a fun place to drink and have a good time, this is the place. Cute little patio and has both an upper and lower level inside with Karaoke some nights. Jordan, the good looking bartender, is a hell of a good time. You seriously can't help but have a good time when he is working. Great place to go as a pre-drink, an after party, or stay all night : highly recommend
