While some diners have experienced delays in receiving their food or being acknowledged by waitstaff, overall the cafe is praised for its delicious offerings like funghi pizza and cream puffs. The ambiance is described as lovely, with both indoor and outdoor seating options. Some customers have noted issues with service or gluten-free options, but many recommend Alforno Bakery and Cafe for a satisfying breakfast, brunch, or casual dining experience in Calgary.
Perfect for a breakfast or a brunch, the food are very good and tasty ! Even for eating something in the afternoon ! Their coffee and tarts are very good as well ! Otherwise, if you plan to eat at the place, don’t forget to book your table !
We went for brunch. With the current issues in the service industry I was expecting our meals to take longer than average. But when all of the tables that arrived after us were receiving their meals, we knew there was a problem. I'll skip the issues with the drinks. I ordered 2 foods, one never came and when I asked for it to be cancelled I was told it was almost ready. However we had been there more than an hour, so pudding should have come out early. There were 4 of us. 3 meals came out and as our friend sat there without food they indicated that all food was now delivered to which we all protested, and they had NO IDEA what had been ordered and missed. When his food came out it should have had 2 eggs but he didn't say anything because we were afraid the food would never come back. The waitress never came back to discuss the issues or explain what had happened. Not sure if it was an owner that ended up making it as right as was possible. Took 50% off the bill. It was a disappointing experience although the food was tasty.
Alforno Bakery and Cafe was a lovely eatery in a nice section of Calgary. Very walkable to nearby sites. I had a business meeting there (four people) and the drinks were delicious (Iced vanilla latte). My only issue was the lack of real food . They seemed to have been out of most sandwiches, etc.
We all know what a Caesar salad is: chopped romaine lettuce and garlic croutons, tossed with a creamy dressing made with eggs, olive oil, lemon, Parmesan cheese, Worcestershire sauce and anchovies. In this case, they served me a salad with aurugula and spinach, due to the smallness of the leaves, they looked like a puree of leaves, with a caesar from the house with too much pepper. I still have a stomach ache.
I would give 0 points, if allowed. My egg omelette had a hair in it. I asked to have another omelette because of that. Received the same plate with the same omelette, just flipped to cover the hair. I flipped the omelette to check it, and the hair was still in it. Very disappointing and unacceptable.
