I love this market. We are from Adelaide. It is a great place to buy some tropical fruit to try, we are always finding something new to taste. You should try the Vietnamese coffee it is the best. View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about Rusty's Market:
The market is opened early. There is a selection of produce including garlic from......Spain, according to the vendor. The whole thing is OK but not worth a special trip. If you are a tourist, don't fret if you miss it. However, there are a lot...of eateries in the area. View all feedback.
We went through this market the late day after leaving on the reef. I couldn't convince my husband that the 5 are open before our tour. Locals recommend boarding before 7:00 if you can manage it. There was a...few-fruit still open when we stopped at 5:00. Many last minute offers, but less variety at this time. We picked up bananas and dragon fruit for a few bucks. There was a great court that was closed. But I think the main drawing is fresh production. All kinds of fruits, vegetables and herbs. Many tropical fruits you cannot simply get anywhere.
Large market area with lots of fresh vegetables and fruit, lots of variety. Some shops also sell cooked food. We bought fresh cheese and olive varieties that were excellent. Worth a visit if you want to get fresh food
Should strictly visit Ziggys when on the Rustys markets, it is a local owner fashion shop with beautiful handmade decorations throughout the business. Each garment is designed by the owner and made from 70% silk for a very good price! I bought the matching wrap top...and skirt and they are absolutely beautiful and good quality.
Make sure to be in Cairns either on Friday, Saturday or Sunday to experience these big markets. Come hungry as there are many stands selling delicious food, fresh fruit and bakery items. Make sure you get a Vietnamese coffee when you enter.
These markets are amazing, we spent hours just wandering around the stalls looking at the awesome fruits and vegetables choices. Had a super drink, sugar cane, pineapple and ginger, highly recommended! Definitely worth the visit. You won’t be disappointed.
