The Korean dumplings intrigued us, so we came the following da... read more We discovered this place when we went to the adjacent well known Japanese ramen place Ganbaranba. The Korean dumplings intrigued us, so we came the following day.This is the same location as the Mando on “46 lake st”. Not sure why there are two addresses, because the entrance is really on Spence st. The menu is simple, but with a good enough variety. It doesn’t contain the classic Korean dishes you may be use to (bibimpap, japchae glass noodle stir fry, seafood pancake, etc.) However, it does contain other dishes that are worth trying. There are a few stir fry’s with your choice of starch (udon, rice vermicelli, rice). They tend to put some chopped cabbage with a heavy dose of mayonnaise on it. I would recommend putting it on the side to avoid overwhelming the actual dish. They have soups called Kal-gu-ksu with handmade noodles which were new to me. I chose the kimchi flavor which was very surprising! Flavorful and mild-moderately spicy. It’s not strong, but it’s a big bowl which you might get tired of if you’re not a spice fan.The mando combination contained the vegetarian, kimchi and beef/pork flavors (all steamed). Unfortunately there were no shrimp dumplings left. If we had to choose again, we would pick the pan fried version of the beef/pork dumpling and the steamed kimchi option only. Vegetarian was bland.Very small place, as you can tell by the pictures. But there are additional tables outside. Might be hard for the waitress to see you though.Another important detail: there are no toilets inside the restaurant. You would have to go to the Orchid plaza. Wasn’t a deal breaker, but it did surprise us.Prices are fair, in range of fellow Asian joints. Portions are good.We would be happy to come back.
