The restaurant offers home-cooked style meals in a cozy café setting. It features a children's playground, as well as poker machines and a sports bar. On Friday nights, you can enjoy some old-school music. I do wish they served cocktails, though. View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about Cazalys Cairns:
I asked one of the staff members if they could switch the large screen from Keno to the cricket match, but the Latin waitress told me they don't take such requests and that the big screen is set to Keno since no one is watching it. I believe this lack of attention to customer requests is why the staff may decide to leave. It seems like Kazalys only focuses on the management's needs rather than caring for the customer... I don't think the food is as good as it used to be since the head chef left, her food was always flavorsome, delicious, huge and amazing. As a large family (who dines with our extended family), we really feel that the presentation, sizing and flavour has significantly reduced in recent months. We are finding that we're not dining at Barassi's as often as we used to for this reason. Also, with the Carvery desserts, please bring back the choice of custard/cream and/or icecream as this really was a delicious highlight.
Fabulous food but the pasta and prawn dish was a very small portion.
Good meals and a good playground area for kids although don't bring a pram, you can't drive let alone walk between the tables with how many people are packed into the dining area.
Very clean, good atmosphere, fantastic food, service is spot on...truly can't fault Cazalys
Great venue but the manager makes it awful when she inserts herself into situations. Twice now I have had to put up with her sour rude manner. First time was when my mother was really near her time and all she wanted was to go out and have a fresh sandwich. Mum was in a nearby nursing home and just wanted her sandwich. We were 5 mins past lunch. This manager made such a fuss about us ordering ‘outside the lunch time’ that it was hard to enjoy one of the last meals with my mum. The other time is tonight. It’s my friends birthday and she has kids we need to watch and be near the children’s area. The reserved table was way away from being able to see the kids play area. It is 5pm and hardly anyone here. I asked to swap tables so we were near the play area. The table I asked for was not reserved. This manager told me I could have the table ‘but it would take away from other patrons’. I’m not sure what this means as we only wanted to swap a reserved table to an unreserved table. What is going on with this woman?? People facing staff should at the very least be courteous. I was not rude, explained why and asked nicely. Making me wonder why we keep giving this place a go as it only takes a bad experience to stop people coming here. After what happened with mum it took me awhile to come back and I thought things had improved but with this person in charge of customer experience still I’m finding it hard to want to ever come back. And to think I’m paying to be treated like this!!!! Not good Cazalays. It really is a shame as you do have many lovely people that are happy to be happy working here.
