Some surprise, some disappoint. This place, tucked away off the beaten tourist track in the heart of a residential part of the suburbs of Cagliari, is a delight. The Parioli is well run, full of friendly locals (it was here that we were finally taught how to pronounce Cagliari properly Cal yar ee) and it was here that I had the best Americano of our long weekend stay; served with a dinky little jug of boiling water, to make it as strong or as weak as I chose. Parioli uses Karalis brand coffee strong, smoky flavoured. It also does excellent machiatos, the staff are pleasant, there's a really happy atmosphere, and I thoroughly recommend it.
