Very pleasant place to have an evening meal. Le Chef sits near the door, is a 'character' himslef and adds to the ambience of the place. Not forceful/intrusive... read more Very pleasant place to have an evening meal. Le Chef sits near the door, is a 'character' himslef and adds to the ambience of the place. Not forceful/intrusive etc.good english to help out with some of the dishes, as do all the staff to be honest. Outside seating and also a couple of tables in the middle of the street, which is given over to restaurants and eating. Although be aware that the odd car does come along - slowly - and you may have to move a chair to let it past. The tables and chairs inside a very theatrical and would not look out of place on stage at an opera. The food was everything I could have hoped for, a shell fiish pasta and scallops dish, I can't put it into words. Le chef chose the wine a burgandy and we ended up buying 2. Not many white wines on offer that I saw, but that could have been me. Good choice of deserts. There is a 'menu of the day' on display outside in French and English, however the regular menu also has a small English translation after each entry as well, so everything is very user friendly. One thing worth mentioning, and this applies to all the restaurants I've been in. If you order a steak well done, it will most likely still only be just about medium, and probably not that. There is a special word for well done steaks - and it doesn't get used much by the French. Anyway, not an issue for me because I like them rare to medium. I think thats about it, certainly chair friendly, also free wifi (if you want that). There are dozens of places to eat in this street and so a lot of competition. Oh yes, the staff do get busy, but still have time to have a chat and help you make a chpoice and advise if needed. A very enjoyable visit for us.
